Cluster bombs banned.... great, but what about NANO-bombs?

I am appalled that Australia and a few other countries will still have cluster bombs in their arsenal after attending the meeting to ban them from the face of this earth. Besides that, an even worse disaster is on the carts for all, I said ALL living things on earth.
Would you believe with nano technology they can encapsule nano substances like pesticides, herbicides etc. and manipulate the capsules to open and release their substance with magnetics, sound, radio- frequencies or just by contact? Wouldn't you call that the cluster-bomb /artillery shell principal? For those who think this is utter garbage should go here:
http://www.etcgroup.org/upload/publication/pdf_file/80

Or straight download from this trusted site:
http://www.etcgroup.org/upload/publication/pdf_file/80
and look at page 12-13.

Those two links are exactly the same.

A pesticide capsule won't blow your leg off (best case senario) 10 years down the track. Reasonably obvious difference there.

Cluster bombs are an effective weapon. Come up with something better and they'll stop using them. What's the point of these pesticide capsules.....a weapon?.

GPS/computer guided intelligent schapnel would render aircraft obsolete.

You will ALWAYS need air superiority. Smart weapons, although smart, aren't infallible. You can always shoot down guided, long range missiles. They haven't figured out evasion techniques for them yet. JDAM's and 'Dumb bombs' you can't shoot down...especially lots of them. By their very nature you need a delivery platform that can cancel their delivery at short notice. Such is the nature of battle these days.

"You will ALWAYS need air superiority." StG.

Agree. A point made by Westmooreland who wished an air rather than ground war in Vietnam.

But how does a plane or missle hit a swarm of a thousand nano-bots, guided by a satellite that knows your position? A million bees will bring down an elephant. Perhaps, useless, would have been a better word than, obsolete.

Yeah, fair point. Well worth milling in the old noggin. Hundred year away from that?.

Stg,

Maybe a thousand year. The power source? :-)

Albeit, some have suggested that the F-35 might the last manned fighter.

Cheers and good wishes,

O.

StG,

Your are right of course. I didn't what seem to be defending a point against, you when agreed. Dog-fights are sub-sonic have hundred, perhaos thans if not-non but very small pieces monaevourable at Mach Two, would be hard to counter.

Maybe, we have moved past the point where medium-to-large First World countries can fight each other, as the stakes are too high

mhaze,

I remember a cartoon involving one of the Viking Landers on Mars. Two strange looking creators are giving a good look-over.

One Martian says to his friend, "it must come from a highly advanced planet, where, there are no wars nor famine, and, all the issues about race and ideologies, have been solved".

Hope you get the point.

Oliver,
I think you missed the point. I was making a joke...Nano<->small problem. Jokes rarely work when you have to explain them.
