Global warming alarmism must surely play the greatest role in the oil futures market and inflation. What if, it is revealed over time, that global warming is influenced only negligibly by humandkind's material development, and the driver of climate is the sun and its relationship with earth. Who then takes responsiblitiy for this economic spinout and other market failures.

Dallas, I think global warming is only very loosely connected to rising fuel prices. Peak oil is the big issue here.

A huge economic spinout is very likely to occur well before the supply of fuel is actually restricted and rationed….and a long time before climate change really bites, if indeed it will at all.

For all the hype about climate change, the amount of effort going into it is piddling, mainly because of the great fear of disrupting our economy and social fabric.

The big upheaval (if there is to be one) will come with the energy crunch, or a little bit before the actual crunch, due to maximised last-minute efforts to mitigate it.

I don’t think we really need to worry about the effects of climate change or the effects of efforts to tackle it. The end of the oil era and its effects are of a vastly greater magnitude.

Anyway, our efforts to deal with the conversion from oil-dependent societies to liquid natural gas and renewable energy sources will be directly (if inadvertently) addressing climate change concerns.
