HISTORY.

During a Melbourne Cup season of 2005, Eva Longoria was the guest Celebrity.
During that time, she did some interviews and she explained how she admired her 'Desperate housewives' character who "Always got what she wanted..and did whatever it took to get it" (words to that effect)

I recall writing an opinion piece...opening a thread about the moral and social implications of such an approach to life. I mentioned about how this will ultimately rebound on all those who hold these values.

HEADLINE.

Yesterday, browsing one of those completely balanced and trustworthy magazines like "Who" at the Safeways checkout I came across a story about Eva. Its the 'cheating husband' one.. where according to the 'authoritative' article, he cheated on her on their wedding day.

HEARTACHE.

Then of course there is the obligatory picture of a distressed and heartbroken Eva to go along with the story.

Of course, the claims of Alexandra Paressant , the french model in question, are denied all round by the Longoria/Parker camp, but whichever way the truth lies, one thing is certain.. either Parker DID it...and fulfilled Eva's publically spoken values 'whatever it takes/gets what she wants'...or..Parker did NOT do it, and the whole thing is about Paressant 'using' high profile celbrities for personal image lifting and publicity.

In either case.. Eva has fallen victim to the very values she trumpeted at the Melbourne cup in 2005.

I'm reminded of a fantastic poem shared on OLO by a highly respected contributor :) *wink* which included 'another one bites the dust'...

Or..to quote Charlie Drakes famous song "My Boomerang won't come back"..oops... it did.

TRTL we call it 'reaping what you sow' .. a very biblical concept. Galatians 6:7

and there is only one life....this one.. (besides eternity) and the sowing and reaping are mainly in the here and now... not some distant 'life cycle' as toad.

Happy Christmas :)

Dear BD,

Don't believe everything you read in those magazines, they make up stuff - 'cause it sells ...

And a "Merry Mistress, and A Happy All Year!" to you too.

Hi dear foxy...

back at ya also :)

but read 'c a r e f u l l y' my 'heartache' bit :) I didn't say I swallowed the story, I said 'even if it isn't true'...... she has fallen victim to the other person living out the values she espouses.. ie.. 'doing whatever it takes' to further one's prospects and get what you want... even making a false allegation.. if it floats that models boat.. my point is still valid.

best regards. 'me'

R u into action movies ? I like some of them. 'DieHard 4' is not bad.. fairly predictable though.. a bit like Clifhanger where he 'almost falls' so many times it gets monotonous.. well poor old Willis is 'almost' killed that many times also.. but we all know that no matter how many bullets enter him, or whacks with blunt object, he will still save his captive daughter and save the world from the evil disgruntled former national security programmer bloke. :)

The moral is "don't believe everything you read".

In marketing terms, YOU are the product and the bigger the stakes, the bigger the claim.

This holds for everything - whether it's shampoo or salvation.

Dear BD,

I just bought the 'Die Hard Collection' DVDs for my step-father as a Christmas present. He loves Bruce Willis.

Pop is in a High-Care Nursing Home after having suffered a series of strokes. He's lost the power of speech (although he understands everything), and is partially paralysed down his right side. Action movies he's always liked so I'm hoping this collection will give him hours of enjoyment.

As for Eva Longoria, BD, magazines make up stuff to stir things up - whether she said it or not - I get the point that you're making ...

Dear BD,

Just a thought:

"The glib, glossy people -
fabulous faces
and beautiful bodies -
who trade their souls
for the price
of a picture on a page,
a name on a silver screen
or the dull colour
of a dollar -
but where can a body go
without a soul?
perhaps hell is full
of fabulous faces
and beautiful bodies ... "

RAche.. indeed.. so true.. I don't believe probably 90% of the twaddle they trot out in popular magz.. and that applies to the 1% of them I catch on covers mainly. But it makes interesting 'philosophizing' fodder :)

Foxy.. well pop will surely love DieHard 4.

You last post is remeniscent of Jesus words "What does it prophet a man (or a model) if he/she gains the whole world, but loses his own soul"

I tried to ring Terry Hatcher. (I just happened to have her mobile number). - Terry left the following message:

"I can't come to the phone right now because I'm busy with your
lover..."
