At the very time we are being told of the impending dangers that lie ahead of us re energy production and usage, the ever craven Morris Iemma and his band of fools think it's the time to flog off electricity generation and sales in NSW to the private sector.

Even as a man-made CC skeptic I want our governments to lead the way in Concentrated solar power development etc. If governments are good for anything, surely it's projects of this size.

Surely Morris and his merry men have the responsibility to lead the way?

Given that I am an ALP member, and yes that the Sydney press is farming lies to hurt my party.
I still think the bloke is a failure.
That his best gift to my party is to leave the house find another job.
That his white wash of health and child welfare is appalling.
Yet yes we are not well served by this government, but who would vote for the opposition?
Just maybe it is time!
Time this opposition acted like it wanted to win.
To think the only thing this lost government has going for it is the opposition questions how bad can NSW get?
What do we sell next?

stop complaining about the quality of parliamentary government. it is rather better than the quality of parliamentary serfs.

the political structure of oz society doesn't allow effective management. if you want a better society, you need to change that structure. unfortunately, there are no mechanisms of change in oz culture, just a bred in the bone belief that pollies should exhibit behavior characterized as 'philosopher-kings'.

well, they're not gonna. so go back to whinging.

Ever had a punt on the races DEMOS? the chances of us getting anything other than the form of government we have are ten million to one.
Like the clerk of the course winning the Melbourne cup.
However complaining about weak direction less government will continue to be a sport we should have more of, not to complain is to except.
If you live ten times ten life's you will never see the form of government you wish.
Self interest drives voters not dreams that never come true.

I never thought that Govt could get this bad.I really believe much of it is due to fear of litigation.Govts no longer lead, they just manage crisis after crisis created by their own procrastination. Our Govts have become impotent, brought about by the victim and the security syndrome.Everyone wants to be a victim so advantage can be gained for no effort. No one wants to risk anything and expects the state to pick up the pieces when things go wrong. If the state can't do it,then they look for ways of litigation to compensate them for their own laziness.

Our pollies just reflect our society that is well and truely down the path of decay.GDP is not a true indication of a healty economy. We do not generate wealth from human endeavour like the Chinese. We mostly just flog off non renewable resources and import all we need with little intellectual or physical effort.

If things get too difficult,we just flog it off. There are certain utilities that Govt still need to control. They just want to sell it off to get out of a pickle of their own making.A fifteen $billion asset can earn them 8% pa if run well and still have enough capital for upgrades. If Govts cannot run a simple thing like power stations and their grids, how can they ever hope to run a state or country?More than likely a foreign owned company will buy our power stations and the profits will go OS.

Private ownership by a few will be just like the oil companies. There will be an undisclosed agreed price that is the bottom line and real competition will not exist. The cost of energy will outstrip inflation and we will all be poorer for it.Did the sale of the Commonwealth Bank lower bank fees?

When household energy prices escallate,Morris Iemma will not be responsible since it is beyond his influence of power. It is one less thing that we can hold them accountable for.

The real question should be,how do we make Govts more efficient and accountable?

The rot began with the Balmain boy dun good who discovered hollow log after hollow log, thus raping our utilities of their capital to create for new demand. No subsequent govt. had the brains to stop this, neither Lib nor Lab. Carr deserves a special mention for his stealing from the building industry Long Service Fund for his self aggrandisement and re-election.

DEMOS- what can I say? Want to get together and start a group?
