Hey,
What are people's thoughts on the concept of a Green Olympics? Are they possible, or PR stunts?

What is Sydney like, 7 years later? Has the environment improved, if so is this a result of lessons learnt in 2000?

What about Beijing and London?

I would be grateful for your opinions on the matter.
Cheers.

I think you first need to define what exactly constitutes a green Olympics. What are the criteria by which an Olympics is judged to be green or not?

Yes of course, Sydney was considered by Greenpeace and others, to be 'Green' because they were able to bring in measures that encouraged sustainable living. These included the increased use of public transportation and recycling, protecting the local biodiversity and ensuring that the new infrastructure adheared to the highest sustainability standards.

What is Sydney like today? Are these criteria still being met, if so do you think they are a result of the Olympics or other factors.

Cheers

Well if it supports the environment then it should be a good thing. But I have no idea what the Green Olympics is. Has it happened before? I definitely want to know what you are on about.

Sydney's Olympics was considered to be 'Green' (environmentally friendly) because of its commitment to conserving energy, conserving water, protecting biodiversity and the natural and cultural environment of Sydney.

Would you agree that this was achieved at the time?
What is Sydney like today? are these aim still being maintained?

Cheers.
