“In what may be the dying days of the Coalition Government, it is easy to see John Howard as an old man with his best days behind him — cranky and frazzled perhaps — but an old bloke doing his best. It is easy to lose sight of the Australia he has done so much to create.”

This is what Julie Macken (journalist) has to say about the legacy of John Howard’s administration. Read it but be prepared for a nauseating insight to what we have become.

Where should we go from here?

Q&A it was typical crap that is posted on the newmatilda. The entire article deserves to be thoroughly rebuked!

Julie Macken obviously has no sense of reality is she honestly believes the garbage she wrote in that article. She either wrote it as fiction or miss Macken disposition should be bought into question!

Easy Times, thanks for reading the article, and more so for replying. Personally, I don’t give a rat’s uno what for Julie Macken, she is a journalist after all, LOL. I only looked at it when I googled news on Australia.

Nonetheless, it blew me away.

I take your point, BUT, how can we rebuke paper after paper presented by eminent psychiatrists and psychologists at a national health conference representing the profession in Australia? Are they all living on another planet? Is it a conspiracy concocted by a professional body to undermine the policies of John Howard or Philip Ruddock?

It’s not Macken that worries me; it’s the assertions of credible professionals and the plight of genuine refugees resulting from policies of a Liberal Conservative government that has now challenged my allegiances.

Q&A,
It certainly appears that way.

discuss publicly the findings of their research into the effects of mandatory detention on asylum seekers.
STOP RIGHT THERE
Its sad the world is not perfect but - We will decide who comes into our country AND the conditions they come by.

Australias already has to highest level of migrants for such a small country.
We have NO WATER!

Charity starts at home and we have people waiting YEARS for operations under the Labour State Governments who have been given tripple! the funds from the Howard Government to run them.

We have a nation of mental health cases as a resultof "drug abuse"

So why dont we attend to that problem first.?

MIGRANTS-
Any of these poor people would need a shrink.
No argument there.
However the best way to help them is to send aid to their countries and lobby THEIR Government to change.

People from third world countries dont suddenly change once in Australia.
Their lifestyle has been VERY different than ours.

HOWEVER as we take migrants then for God Sake USE THIS as an oportunity to get our regional areas back into operation.

Put them on free range farms and vegetable farms and train them.

Let them work this countries soil and toil as our fathers and granfather did.
Re open abattoirs and give them jobs.

Dont just expect US the tax payer to meet them at the port with paid lawyers and dentists and supply free houses and welfare.

Set up some farms and let them work.

That way you could have some travelling mental health Drs to visit them in their own places- Thus yet again cutting down in the hard working Australians taxes.
And of course they must be detained SOMEWHERE if they enter without papers.
Maybe the Government can set up farming communites. After all they are married at the hip to Elders to cruel live animal exporters.
How about it Elders? You guys fancy yourselves as real estate doods.
Why dont you set up some farms to train migrants?.
FREE RANGE ONLY. You never know helping migrants might be even more profitable!

C'mon Q & A. I am reluctant to buy in because of the political ramifications. I'd also rather not make disparaging remarks about the professions you mentioned. But you really need to get a little bit more grounded. You seem to take them as seriously as they take themselves. In the normal course of things when they reverse their opinions next year will you treat their pronouncements as gospel then?
