I don't agree with forced labour being used by those who produce goods.
Such as in the recently discussed production of processed tomato.
It is a disgraceful manipulation of human beings.
However, we need to separate that use from the products themselves.
Prosecute those who use forced labour by all means.
But don't downgrade the good food they produce.
Good food is good food, wherever it comes from.
Food of known good quality should not be discarded or its use avoided.
Doing so is absolutely absurd.
Human beings cannot afford to be so cavalier about food.
Would you avoid using it if you were starving, and it were the only food available?
I think not.
So stop pursuing wasteful and stupid ideas about food.

Similarly with public figures who have been convicted of socially unacceptable crimes.
What they do in a private life should not be considered part of a public life.
Rolf Harris comes to mind.
Don't ignore his talent because of his apparent shortcomings.
If you follow that path, you will discard the input of a host of amazing men and women throughout history.
Those who have contributed their talent and expertise during the past 1000 years and beyond.
It is recorded that many were less than 'clean' in their personal lives.
But quite rightly we benefit from things they did in a well lived public life.
There is something wrong with the thinking of those whose indignation can be so clearly ill-founded.
It is time for the public to get back to basic and clear thought.
And in doing so, become far more understanding and accepting.
Which will lead to the better experience of a life well lived.

You know what the real plan behind all this is.
To stop the west sourcing goods from these places as part of it;s trade war.
Your poor slave on low wages will soon be unemployed and back to stealing.
At least now he can eat.

Tomato sauce and Rolf Harris? Yuck! I thought that the reason Rolf wasn't treated like the average pervert was because he was making a motza for the BBC. Similarly, I wonder how many people would keep eating tomato sauce if they knew what it was and how it was made?

Maybe you mean like Jules? Yeah, he was alleged to have said something like "if they get killed they got what they deserved." in a discussion about his failure to redact names. Hey, but that's okay because Jules is a human rights hero and if anyone died he can't face trial for it so it doesn't count.

I'm one of those old school people who believe that the law should apply equally to all, even Rolf and super heroes.

I also think it logical that 'the law should apply equally to all, even Rolf and super heroes'.
We must not allow these people to to behave in a socially unacceptable manner.
However, their socially acceptable talent or artistic achievement is not in the same boat.
It should not be included in any degrading of the person's legal status.
It is a separate issue.
Imagine a doctor saves lives and does much good.
Then he is found to be a pervert.
Are you going to backtrack, and kill off all the people he saved?
On the basis that he should not have his achievements celebrated?
Get real!

"We must not allow these people to to behave in a socially unacceptable manner."

You treat them like you would anyone else. Maybe that is why justice is blindfolded?

Would you exempt people from the law because they were super people? What a totally effd place the world would become if you did that.

I might also bring to your attention the poor treatment given to people like Galois. Those making great contributions to knowledge and culture aren't born with a stamp on their head.
