Water, electricity, gas, waste services up 76%.

Worker shortages in mining up 58%.

The Albanese government has been using worker shortages to justify mass immigration, but shortages are going up. “Today’s data again reinforces that this approach has failed.”

Only a fool would think that every immigrant who arrives through the migration program is here to work. In 2024/25 the Skill stream delivered 132,148 of which 46% about 60,800 were here to fill job vacancies, the majority are non working dependants. The Australian workforce is made up of almost 15 million, yearly migration is not the complete answer to skill shortages, and it can't be, domestic training programs with skilled graduates is just as important.

Full employment has always been considered a level of 2% unemployed, the makeup is people between jobs, or seeking some other government benefit at the time, and people who are simply unemployable.

Skilled migration in not simply a tap, Australia needs a whole range of skilled people, but its not that easy to fill the requirements like fitting a hand in a glove. Even then there can be a lag created by approving qualifications etc.

Australia does not have "mass immigration" as some radicals shout. We very much have a controlled immigration policy, there is no open door policy as the likes of Hanson contrive. In fact like Japan, Australia is in danger of an ageing population, where taxes have to rise as the number of non productive people requiring high expenditure to maintain grows. At the moment Australia is at the top of the crest in supplying benefits to an ageing population. Today the median age is 40, in 1975 it was 27. It is growing exponentially, in Japan with zero population growth its now 50, and a serious problem for government. The problem could be solved by making euthanasia an option at 70, and compulsory at 80, but that would not go down well with the majority of voters.

You made that claim a few years back and lost badly when I was able to prove to you that it was just another one of those ALP myths that you regularly fall for. Menzies never said a 10% unemployment rate was desirable. Its just a myth that Paul prefers to the actual truth.

1. Menzies cowardly avoided military service in WWI, while supporting conscription of other young men.

2. Menzies sold materials to Japan, which were later used to bomb and kill Australians.

3. Menzies admired the Nazi regime in Germany. Probably wanted the same for Australia.

4. Menzies wanted the Brisbane Line as a cowardly defence against the Japanese. Fortunately kicked out of office before it could be implemented.

5. Menzies supported a "pool of unemployed" 10% for Australia.

6. Menzies discovered the "value" of working woman, and how they could be cheaply exploited by Capitalism.

7. Menzies opposed organised labour, rightly fearing it would lead to better wages and conditions for the working class, denying the bosses total control.
