Perspective is required.

The population is growing, therefore roads deaths are growing.

The number of cars is growing, therefore roads deaths are growing.

The total kilometres travelled per year is growing, therefore roads deaths are growing

Absolutely simplistic. Fines are increasing, demerits are increasing, idiots on roads are increasing.
There is no excuse for speeding, drink driving or drug taking. These drivers need not be on our roads.
The consequence of speeding to the community is arrogance, disrespect, to the persons that live in the street concerned.
Drink driving or drug taking, has been outlawed for that long it requires immediate detention for some time as it is old news.
The only excuse for collision is i was not looking.
The infringements and cameras are going to escalate big time.
cameras that see forward and behind plus trip meters.
Give them nothing to infringe people for and nothing will change.
We are in the hands of speeding drunk or drugged drivers.
Someone sitting on the speed limit it is illegal to pass.
Anyone that is killed by speeding drugged or intoxicated drivers is murder.
Any crash has consequences That can be avoided.
This is Australia's war on the roads that we share with kids and cyclists and pedestrians.
I want to see black boxes in all cars. That can only be read by police.

"Absolutely simplistic."
Well let me make it less simplistic for you.

Total VKT, (vehicle kilometres travelled) has INcreased by 30% in the past 20 years. Why? More cars, more people, more economic activity.

Meanwhile road deaths has DEcreased by 16% in the same period.

Even more so, the deaths per kilometre travelled has more than halved and is now down to 4.9 deaths per 1 billion kilometres travelled.

And while you're rushing to blame drivers, you might ponder that badly maintained or badly designed roads are factors in 20% of all crashes. You might also look at how the statistics are prepared. For example, if a car slides off the road, speed is listed as a factor irrespective of the actual speed. And if a car crashes on a bend, equally speed is considered to be a cause, again without any consideration of the actual speed.

Its never been safer to be on our roads. Enjoy.

Our roads are never safe as long as we have disrespectful drivers on our roads, suburban or open roads.
Drive to the speed limit and everybody will have a share of the road.
IT is illegal to pass a vehicle sitting on the speed limit.
Speed limit sign's are the conductor of our roads.
Arrogant individuals are putting every body else at risk.
Murder is illegal The speed limit is there to protect the driver.
That means driving above the speed limit is murder.
Accidents do not happen without a cause. If all are obeying the law it remains an accident.
There is no justification for speeding.
There is no justification for drugs or alcohol while driving.
There is no justification for speeding.
Drivers that go to fast around roundabouts with infants in car can cause autism in young brains. I do not believe kids should be in cars before the age of 6 yo.
Just another cycle of speeding.

" I do not believe kids should be in cars before the age of 6 yo."

So anyone who has a kid is condemned to stay at home for the first 6 years?

Evidence for the autism claim? Thought not.

If an ambulance goes over the speed limit, are they being inherently unsafe?

Why is doing 61 in a 60 zone inherently unsafe?

Why are speed limits always in round figures. They're guesses and slightly exceeding the guess made by someone in head office is not inherently unsafe.

Again, driving is the safest its ever been. Enjoy it and stop whining.
