Armchair Critic,

The study didn't "recommend" neutering, soy, re-education, or any of the other cartoon villains you've listed. It observed a correlation between masculinity stress and climate disengagement under certain framings. That's it.

Disagree with the methodology if you like. Question the interpretation. But inventing an entire authoritarian programme that isn't there just avoids engaging with what was actually studied.

If the finding is wrong, explain why. If it's uncomfortable, that's a different issue.

I agree with what seems to be AC's attitude to “studies”. ‘There has been a study’. ‘Studies have shown’, etc, etc, etc. And some half-arsed Phd candidates or “researchers” have probably been given a subsidy, on the taxpayer, to come up with some completely stupid drivel about nothing that matters.

I had no intention of saying anything about WTF's silly post, until I read the wonderfully sarcastic piece in opposition that I found by accident.

Actually, the piece wasn't in opposition: it actually agreed that real men had better things to do than get the vapours over natural climate change, and demonstrate like a bunch of school girls signalling their virtue. It described what a bunch of girly-men and freaks the few males who turn up at the screech-fests are.

Do you have an example of such a study, ttbn?

//And some half-arsed Phd candidates or “researchers” have probably been given a subsidy, on the taxpayer, to come up with some completely stupid drivel about nothing that matters.//

(Sorry, by tumbleweed gif link no longer works.)

You do realise that they need a robust methodology, don't you? They can't just come up with whatever they like.

Thanks John, I was getting rather concerned about Harry eating quiche, but since you said its most likely only egg and cheese pie then that's okay. Harry's still the all round knock-a-about bloke he always was. BTW Harry's asked the fellas down at the 'Royal' if we'd stop calling him Harry and refer to him as Simone from now on, and also he's started wearing lippy and he's got false eye lashes on, and is wearing Mavis's floral skirt. Probably just a phase he's going through at 75, don't you think? Two of the fellas, Sheree, used to be called Jimbo, and Denise once called Davo, said its normal for Harry to be called Simone, they should know.
