Paul telling us about history is like my budgie telling us about nuclear fission.
BTW both Hitler and Mussolini were socialists. Even people as deranged as Paul couldn't make the case for Trump being socialist. " people like the quasi-Nazi saluting Elon Musk.." http://tiny.cc/pvu6001 But its different when they do it, isn't it Paul? Now to join the real world....Trump Day1... * Trump closes the southern border * Withdraws from the Paris Climate accord * withdraws from WHO. * releases the J6 political prisoners * begins the process of re-establishing US fuel dominance * begins the process of looking into the FBI/DOJ corruption over the past 4 years * formalised the DOGE process * froze all new federal regulations and began process of identifying regulations that add to inflation * ended federal censorship And that was all before dinner. Oh BTW....ceasefire. Posted by mhaze, Wednesday, 22 January 2025 8:20:58 AM

Dear Paul,
Donald Trump has now been inaugurated as US President. We won't see what that means until after his term ends. And hopefully it will, Being an optimistic person, I'm hoping that things will not be all that bad. That the US Constitution will protect America's democracy. But we shall have to wait and see. In the meantime - I'm glad I live in Australia. I wonder if any of our political leaders will in future try to surround themselves with dedicated loyalists and family members? It may be a trend that will spread around the world? After all - in politics: It's not about making a difference Or building a career, It's about blowing the Trumpet And shouting - - "Hear, Hear!" Elon Musk's Nazi salute?
Bernard Keane writes: " Well it's a Nazi salute. according to historians, according to antisemites and Nazi's themselves and according to Israeli newspapers. But what do they know?" "What do media outlets and groups censoring themselves tell us beyond how cowed they are by a newly installed president hellbent on revenge". "It's all part and parcel of the MACA movement's intense fact aversion and widespead resistance to observing the truth". "America's first pump and dump president". "Bernard Keane writes:"
Bernard Keane, who hasn't seen a left wing trope he wouldn't rapidly fall for (oh wait, no wonder you like him) straight up misrepresents in the article you failed to link - wonder why?. Musk didn't say “You have said the actual truth,” about an antisemitic post...he said it about a post criticising an antisemitic post. But as usual with Foxy....facts don't matter. And, sadly, that was the least incorrect part of the article. Elsewhere he says historians back the claim and links to an article written LAST Year. Did you even read the article you relied on Foxy or doesn't the truth matter to you any more? And the article he links says nothing about historians vis a vis the gesture. How an article written a year ago can comment on a gesture made yesterday is something that only those living in fantasyland can explain. But if Musk's gesture is a salute proving he's a Nazi then obviously Obama, Hilary and Kamala are Nazis also. Oh wait I forgot... in the leftard world, its different when we do it. The only way to treat this monumental idiocy is to mock it... http://tiny.cc/okw6001 Meanwhile, back in the sane world, the ICE deportation arrests have started, the J6 political prisoners are being released and the first confirmation hearings have gone 99-0 in Trump's favour. Oh and BTW....ceasfire. Posted by mhaze, Wednesday, 22 January 2025 4:21:17 PM

Donald Trump has been given a new nickname.
" Daddy's Home". You can buy tee-shirts and anything else you want to wear with that message. They're selling faster than the one-of-a-kind Teddy Bears. What's next? Posted by Foxy, Wednesday, 22 January 2025 5:19:47 PM

Trumpster,
The ceasefire in Gaza took effect before Trump was sworn in as the new Il Duce. That was that silly old fart Bidens doing. BTW; Did you notice what great condition the 3 Israeli hostages who were released were in? Me thinks they need to join Jenny Craig. Can't say the same for the 90 Palestinians who were also released. Now the Trumpster has become some kind of historical expert, or should I say, hysterical expert! Trying to play the apologist for Hitler and Mussolini, saying they were "socialists" BTW Mussolini led the Fascists movement in Italy. I can call the Pope a Protestant, but that doesn't make him one! Hitler had his peoples car, Trumps has his Tic-Tok (not that stupid dance the fool does)! Now he's babbling on about some Yank outfit should buy Tic-Tok and give half to the American Government (That's Donald). Now we have The Gulf Of America (formally Mexico), next it will be Donaldland (formally Greenland) and the Donald Canal, what's after that? America's 51 state New Trumpy (once called Canada). Does Donald plan to add another 200 states to America? Posted by Paul1405, Wednesday, 22 January 2025 5:21:44 PM

Dear Paul,
So much appears to be changing. America used to be a friend to many. The guys in the White Hats. The freedom fighters. America didn't need to be made great. It was great. Now a sales pitch has been sold - and the people of America bought it. Perhaps, sometime in the future - the words "You're fired!" can still happen? "That was that silly old fart Bidens doing."
The Israelis said it was Trump's invention. The Qataris gave the credit to Trump. The Egyptians gave the credit to Trump. Even the Biden State Dept gave the credit to Trump. But they don't have Paull's historic expertise!! As to Hitler/Mussolini. Hitler was a Nationals SOCIALIST. He even said he was what a communist would be like if they were nationalist. Then look up the history of the Fascists, or get some 10 yr old to do it for you, and you'll find they were a breakaway from the Italian Socialist groups. The rest of what you wrote is tooooooo childish to even address Posted by mhaze, Wednesday, 22 January 2025 10:31:34 PM

Dear Paul, . What Trump didn’t do on day one : Trump boasted he would settle the Russian-Uranian war in 24 hours if he were elected. He was sworn in as president on 20 January 2025. We are now 22 January and he has not settled the war. The truth is he no longer boasts that he will personally negotiate a “deal” to end the war. He now admits he simply “hopes” that peace could be negotiated in six months – without saying who would do the negotiating or even if it would happen during his presidency. . What Trump did on day one : • He pardoned Enrique Tarrio, the fascist Proud Boy leader convicted of seditious conspiracy — and serving a 22-year sentence in federal prison — for coordinating the attack on the Capitol from outside Washington. • He commuted the sentences of 14 extremist members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers convicted for plotting to overthrow the U.S. government and keep Trump in office violently. • He blasted the pre-emptive pardons of Bidens family, moments before offering his own pardons to approximately 1,500 people convicted or charged in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol — including violent criminals who attacked police officers. • He issued 26 executive orders, some of which already are, or probably will be, contested and possibly rejected : The one redefining birthright citizenship is already facing legal challenges as contrary to the 14th Amendment. The one Restoring the Death Penalty was anticipated by Biden who issued commutations for 37 of 40 federal death row inmates, that Trump cannot reverse. And the one on Elon Musk’s DOGE is already facing multiple lawsuits, ... What emerged from day one : The importance of the enlarged family clan of which Donald Trump is the undisputed “capo famiglia” (head of the house). It clearly illustrated Trump’s conception of governance as a family process of blind devotion and unquestioning obedience to the “capo famiglia”, a winning process, that of the “Cosa Nostra” in Palermo, Sicily. We now know what to expect. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Thursday, 23 January 2025 3:03:24 AM

I believe Paul1405 is the totalitarian racist. But there you go. I've loved watching the pagentry of the inaugeration of President Trump over the last few days. But there is much work to do. Let us bend our shoulders to the wheel, most of life is just turning up, let the good people of Australia take back their world, and leave others to theirs.

Trumpster,
I believe in the "horseshoe political theory", where the extremes of politics approach each other. Hitler was right, extreme communism and extreme nationalism have much in common. Hitler and Stalin were similar in how they applied their methods of state control. Your man Donald is not adverse to state control, look at the number of executive orders he signed to implement a whole raft of state control methods, we could call Donald a Socialist. Donald has even declared TicTok should be sold to an American, and that American should give half of the enterprise to the American Government (That's Donald). p/s As I said the Popes a Protestant! BTW; We have our own version of an Vidkun Quisling, the trillion dollar debt man, he's called Peter Dutton, Old Pete is trying to be a sycophantic Trumpster, just like YOU. I'm glad the convicted criminal Trump got the gig. Trump Act I was, with sackings and mayhem everywhere, hilarious, Trump Act II is going to be even better. A total three ring circus with clowns in every ring, and with Donald as the supreme Clown Master! Posted by Paul1405, Thursday, 23 January 2025 6:05:40 AM

So the boy-child, narcissistic, vindictive 47th President of the USA has already spewed his vitriol towards the female high priest who delivered the inaugural prayer service sermon. Mariann Budde asked tRump to ‘…have mercy upon …’ scared individuals including immigrants and LGBTQ+ who ‘… fear for their lives.’ According to tRump only ‘… a radical left hard line tRump hater …’ could say or wish for such things. Obviously. these thoughts aren’t from the same God who guided him to be the savior of the USA.
On another note – how I wish we could all have a hat like Melania. One big enough where he never gets to slobber on us, but we can still smell the stench. Posted by Aries54, Thursday, 23 January 2025 9:03:41 AM

Let this US election be a lesson to us all.
With our own federal election just around the corner we need to choose wisely how we're going to vote. Also if we ever contemplate changing our system of government in the future - do we really want a President, and to give them so much executive power? We now have an example in the US presidency do we want that for Australia? Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 23 January 2025 9:18:38 AM

"Trump boasted he would settle the Russian-Uranian war in 24 hours if he were elected."
It is truly said that those who understand Trump take him seriously but not literally and those that misunderstand him take him literally but not seriously. We know where Banjo sits. No-one with two brain cells to rub together thought Trump was going to stop the war in a day. Most of Biden's screw-ups are going to take much longer than that to fix. This is just Trump's rhetoric to say that it'll be a priority and will be resolved asap. Tell me, when the Obamessiah said the oceans would stop rising on the day following his election, did you think that was literally true? If you are going to believe every literal word from politicians, you are going to spend the next 4 years being very confused - even more so than now. Oh BTW, there were more revelations today about the bribes that the Biden crime family received from the Chinese government and the efforts the Democrats made to cover it up. Also seen today the observations that the hypocritical left had to stop shouting death to Israel to call Musk a Nazi. The hypocrisy will go over their head. BTW..... ceasefire. "before offering his own pardons to approximately 1,500 people convicted or charged in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol"
These people were political prisoners charged and/or convicted of attempting to overthrow the government when the full facts proved beyond doubt that no such attempt occurred. Information was withheld from the defence and people's rights trampled on. In truth they were jailed for being Republicans in a Democrat jurisdiction that voted 96% Democrat. Political prisoners. Now joyously free - in most cases. They were examples of the two tiered justice system that developed under Biden/Pelosi. For example, Tim Kaine's (Democrat and Hilary's running mate) son was found guilty of storming "the MN capitol in an anti-Trump riot in 2017, set off explosive devices and tear gas, and fought the police. He didn’t do any jail time." The BLM rioters literally burned down cities and established areas they claimed to be independent of the USA. None served jail time. Two tiered justice is no justice. Trump is repairing that. _________________________________________________________________ " yet it'd be great If Congress said - "You're fired!" Trump won the majority vote and the Electoral College. Foxy demonstrates YET AGAIN how little regard she has for those who don't vote the way she decrees. But they're the fascists? The USA is a democracy.
The people made their decision. Respect their decision and leave it at that. As for Elon Musk's salute. Perhaps wishful thinking by some here. Compare it with the Neo-Nazi salutes we saw on our streets some time ago. Some people have very vivid imaginations driven by their bias. We should be thinking about our election. Do we want a leader who takes a Bex and lays down whilst rampant, vicious antisemitism, indeed terrorist activities are taking place on our streets, or a leader given to law and order. Fact-Checking on Day One . 1. Trump said, “We will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens.” But his proposed tariffs would be paid by U.S. consumers 2. He falsely stated there was “record inflation” under the Biden administration. But it was much worse during multiple periods in U.S. history. 3. Trump claimed that 38,000 Americans died during the construction of the Panama Canal. Only about 300 were American. There were 20,000 French. The rest were from Jamaica and Barbados. 4. Citing North Carolina and other states post-Hurricane Helene, Trump misleadingly claimed that the federal government “can no longer deliver basic services in times of emergency.” FEMA provided food, water and other supplies, offering over $344 million in assistance within weeks of the disaster. 5. He said the U.S. has “the largest amount of oil and gas of any country on Earth,”. It produces more but several countries have far greater reserves than the U.S. 6. Trump blamed high inflation on “massive overspending and escalating energy prices.” The COVID-19 pandemic triggered the escalation. 7. He said he would “revoke the electric vehicle mandate” and allow people “to buy the car of your choice.” But there is no “mandate” on electric vehicles. Carmakers are free to decide how to reduce tailpipe emissions. 8. Trump said, “We will bring law and order back to our cities.” Violent crime has gone down slightly since he left office. 9. Trump claimed that many immigrants crossing the border illegally are from “prisons and mental institutions.” There is no evidence to support that. 10. He insisted the 2020 election was “totally rigged.” The evidence and 77 legal cases prove the opposite. 11. Trump falsely claimed that the House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6 Capitol attack “destroyed all the evidence”. The committee released an 800-plus page report with the evidence. 12. Trump falsely claimed that he “offered 10,000 [National Guard] soldiers” to protect the Capitol on Jan. 6, to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, wrongly adding that she “admitted it on tape.” . .
There are about 244 million people eligible to vote in the US. 77,284,118 voted for Trump in the 2024 presidential election. That represents about 32% of all those eligible to vote. That means that 68% of Americans who could have voted for Trump did not. No doubt for various reasons – not necessarily because they did not want him to become president. It is, nevertheless, something that should be kept in mind as events unfold. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Friday, 24 January 2025 1:30:16 AM

"12. Trump falsely claimed that he “offered 10,000 [National Guard] soldiers” to protect the Capitol on Jan. 6, to then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, wrongly adding that she “admitted it on tape.”"
http://tiny.cc/rl67001 Oh dear! "3. Trump claimed that 38,000 Americans died during the construction of the Panama Canal." No. He said: ""They were diggers, and they were brave: 38,000 men died from infected mosquitoes in the jungles of Panama during the construction period. Think of that: We lost 38,000 men." No claims they were Americans. "2. He falsely stated there was “record inflation” under the Biden administration. But it was much worse during multiple periods in U.S. history." There are many ways to measure inflation. Picking one and making claims about it indicates a desire to falsify rather than edify. "6. Trump blamed high inflation on “massive overspending and escalating energy prices.” The COVID-19 pandemic triggered the escalation.' It was caused by the laughingly named 'Inflation Reduction Act' which threw stupendous amounts of money into an already over-heated economy. At the time Biden claimed it wouldn't cause inflation since “Milton Friedman isn’t running the show anymore.” Friedman had proven in the 1970s that government spending was the cause of inflation. Friedman was proven right again. And sadly these were the least inaccurate parts of Banjo's claims!! And so it begins. False claims made against Trump get believed by the TDS crowd and form part of the meme that all is a lie while they try very hard to forget the most corrupt regime in US history that preceded it. And irrespective of how outlandish the claims of lies are, they'll be repeated by the losers ad infinitum. Musk Nazi salute.... just add it to the list. A defining feature of authoritarian regimes, including fascist regimes, is total control of the media, extreme suppression of free speech, and an obsession with misinformation/disinformation. I think that a significant reason for Trump coming to power was his promotion of free speech.
In Australia there are many examples of attempts to control public opinion with supposed "fact checking" that amounts to no more than blatant distortion for the purpose of supporting a political agenda. Some examples: -finding a Nazi salute to be a camera adjustment and a mock Hitler mo to be an unrelated habitual hand gesture -finding that a group of people didn't chant "f the Jews" of "gas the Jews", but rather "Where's the Jews?" -fact checking to determine the Uluru Statement to be one page -finding wind and solar to be the cheapest and most reliable forms of energy generation As AA members well know, there is no hope of solving a problem until you acknowledge it. Speaking of boys and girls, Donald Trump has made official what we all know is true: there are only two sexes. No more nutty males claiming to be women, getting into women's prisons to rape real women, or into single-sex ‘spaces’ and activities (e.g sport) designed for women.
Here, in Wackstralia, we have two insipid parties who prefer pandering to ideology and lies about nature rather than protecting real women from these perverts. US agencies have 30 days to remove all policies that promote gender theory and immediately stop promoting the lies via messages and statements. Forms have to have to have removed any nonsense not reflecting biological sex. No more grants for gender ideology. Blokes in women's prisons evicted. Federal government must purge all doctrine that aligns with gender ideology. Nothing gradual for Trump - it's now! Dimwits cannot claim that there is anything oppressive about truth and reality. Human beings cannot change their gender and no one should be forced to deny reality for fear of a misguided law. DEI in the US is dead. There will now be a “colourblind, merit-based, and biologically sound society”. Merit is back. Posted by ttbn, Friday, 24 January 2025 8:48:02 AM

Its so cute when Paul decides to give history lessons..."labouring for a uncaring America during its construction."
In fact the vast majority of those who died did so during the French phase of the construction. When the US took over they were very aware of the need to provide the best possible protection for the workers and so, even though most of the construction occurred during the US phase, under 25% of the deaths happened under US stewardship. It should be noted that the US isn't proposing to take over the canal. They simply object to the Chinese being in charge of the entry and exit ports attached to the canal and that they, the Chinese, have altered those ports to be dual purpose civilian and military facilities. Meaning that, in the event of conflict with China, it could effectively close the canal to shipping. The US will pressure Panama to reverse this situation. Trump has previously promised his followers that "they are going to win so much, they will become tired of it."
Well I think it'll take a long time to get tired of it but its started: * Saudi Arabia has promised to invest $600 billion (with a 'b') in the US * Trump hating CNN's ratings are so low they are "laying off hundreds of employees this week" *Some Democrats are starting to break ranks. New York City mayor Eric Adams has been complaining that the Biden administration was completely unconcerned about the damage the illegal aliens were doing to NYC and that when he raised it with them he was told to just ‘be a good Democrat.’ ie STFU. * it now seems all the J6 political prisoners have been freed including one who was held for 4 years without trial. Yet they called it justice. * DEI (Diversity, equity, and inclusion) departments and authorities are being shut down all around the country. Merit based appointments are being reinstituted. Appointing people based on their abilities rather than gender or skin colour - so crazy it just might work. * There is a growing stream of illegal aliens self-deporting rather than waiting around to be arrested and deported. * The UAE is in talks with Israel and the Trump White House, promising to fund the reconstruction of Gaza provided some way can be found to keep Hamas out of it. * A steady stream of Democrat hold-outs are leaving the DOJ rather than wait to be sacked. * that same DOJ is now working on ways to prosecute local officials who refuse to help ICE to find and arrest illegal aliens. And the beat goes on.... Posted by mhaze, Friday, 24 January 2025 9:09:21 AM

Dear mhaze, . In reply to point N° 12 of my Fact-checking list, you posted a link to a “The Dan Bongino Show” website article. I see that the website is run by Dan Bongino who The New York Times listed as one of its top five election "misinformation superspreaders". In the wake of the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, Bongino's Twitter account was temporarily shut down on January 7, 2021, for violating Twitter's Civic Integrity policy. The website is politically rated “far right”, with “low credibility”, publishing conspiracy and propaganda, and has failed fact checks. The website does not feature an "about" page, mission statement, author name, or ownership, demonstrating a complete lack of transparency. The website does not publicly disclose ownership, but Dan Bongino copyrights the website. Bongino.com generates revenue through advertising and the sale of branded merchandise. . Apart from that, I have noted your interpretation of the other points which I find quite interesting. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Friday, 24 January 2025 10:41:48 AM

The link contained the video from Pelosi's daughter showing Pelosi admitting that she had failed to have sufficient personnel at the Capitol building - personnel that Trump had previously offered.
Just because the video is on a website you disapprove of does invalidate it. It doesn't matter where the video is posted, its still had Pelosi's admission. Fair dinkum, you people have more ways to avoid the truth than you shake a stick at. Dear Banjo,
It is amazing that anyone would be trying to justify the attack on the Capitol. And, trying to blame the Speaker of the House for it. Facts First: "The Speaker of the House is not in charge of Capitol Security. That's the responsibility of the Capitol Police Board, which oversees the US Capitol Police and approves requests for National Guard assistance". Disgusting behaviour. And of course Trump had nothing to do with what happened on January 6th. It was after all only a small group - and they are all "patriots" and will be pardoned once he's in office. It's all Pelosi's fault! And Mike - Pence's - who's a traitor - as we've been told. Posted by Foxy, Friday, 24 January 2025 2:10:22 PM

Foxy, The video, which you obviously are going to assiduously ignore, has Pelosi being filmed by her own daughter, admitting that it was she takes responsibility for what happened.
But if you don't want it to be true then in Foxy's fantasyland, it isn't true. "To argue with a person who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead." Thomas Paine "and they are all "patriots" and will be pardoned once he's in office." News flash: he is in office. And they have been pardoned. Do try to keep up with the rest of the class. mhaze,
The facts are that Pelosi was not responsible for the security of the Capitol building as explained earlier. The fact that she blames herself is perfectly normal for someone who cares enough about what happened and could have been prevented. Unlike you and Trump looking to blame others. Therein lies the difference between Pelosi and who you support. It's hard to justify the bad behaviour of you both Posted by Foxy, Friday, 24 January 2025 4:45:06 PM

The Liberals don't want to admit that there are only two sexes. When asked, Senator Jane Hume replied: “This isn’t something that Australians are raising with me, and it’s not something that Peter Dutton has raised with me either.”
That's no answer. The question was does she accept that there are only two sexes. She copped out. And went on to waffle about the cost of living. When pressed, Hume replied: ““I think that Donald Trump is going to raise a lot of issues that are going to create debate around the world. This isn’t one that I’m focused on.” “It’s not an issue that’s come up in Cabinet. It’s not an issue that Peter Dutton has raised with me.” She has to be asked 4 times. She finally said: ““It’s not something that keeps me awake at night. I think that there are two genders, certainly.” But, finally: “There is no Coalition position to take the same route as Donald Trump.” Still, it's obviously not possible for the Liberals to fix the economy and also confirm that there are only two sexes. No wonder they lost the last election. They deserve to lose the next one too. Australians are the losers, stuck with two Leftist parties. Posted by ttbn, Friday, 24 January 2025 5:38:44 PM

Yes, but what Trump is proposing is that his online
univerties will be "Sane and affordable" in other words he wants to get rid of the way of thinking that he does not approve of in colleges and universities. A bit different to what's currently available, especially at institutions like Harvard. Posted by Foxy, Friday, 24 January 2025 9:53:17 PM

Dear mhaze, . You wrote : « Just because the video is on a website you disapprove of does invalidate it. It doesn't matter where the video is posted, its still had Pelosi's admission. » . I did not disapprove of the website, mhaze. I noted that the professional media classified it as “politically rated “far right”, with “low credibility”, publishing conspiracy and propaganda, and has failed fact checks”. . Thanks for the link to the Fox Business video. It indicates the source as Rep. Barry Loudermilk, chairman of the House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight. Having carefully examined the video, I summarize it as follows : Loudermilk explains that “the Chief of Police had made numerous requests for the National Guard to come to the Capitol but, somewhere in leadership, that was denied multiple times and, whereas, we heard on this tape which we just received on Friday from HBO, that she took full responsibility for being the one that the National Guard was not there to assist the Capitol Police”. That is not what Nancy Pelosi said on the video. She said : “Why weren’t the National Guard there to begin with ? They thought that they had sufficient resources … No, that is not a question of how they had … They don’t know ... They clearly didn’t know … And I take the responsibility for not having them just prepare for more.” . I have the impression Nancy Pelosi was speaking with a mask on her face to someone on the telephone while sitting in the back seat of the chauffeur-driven car. She did not say, as Rep. Loudermilk claims, that “she took full responsibility for being the one that the National Guard was not there to assist the Capitol Police”. She said : « I take the responsibility for not having them [the Capitol Police] just prepare for more » Trump started the riot and Trump stopped it. He alone commanded the rioters. He also commanded the National Guard – but failed to do so until his daughter, Ivanka, finally managed to persuade him. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Saturday, 25 January 2025 1:48:41 AM

Foxy, so that's a no to actually watching the video, let alone understanding it? When you don't like the facts, ignore them. Standard operating procedure for Foxy.
Banjo, you poo-poohed the message based upon the messenger. I've never accepted that type of thinking. "I have the impression Nancy Pelosi was speaking with a mask on her face to someone on the telephone" No she was talking to her daughter who was also in the car. She had commissioned her daughter, who is some sort of photo journalist, to do a doco on the lead up to Biden's inauguration. The video in the car was being shot by Pelosi's daughter and the conversation was with the daughter. The video needs to understood in the context that Trump had previously offered troops and/or help getting the National Guard in place and that help had been rejected by all concerned including Pelosi. That's why she was now admitting responsibility and offering a mild sort of mea culpa. Thankfully almost all the J6 political prisoners have been released although the corrupt DC system is dragging it heals as much as possible. The next step is to start investigating the investigators to find out what exactly was hidden from the defence and the public in general. Posted by mhaze, Saturday, 25 January 2025 6:36:03 AM

More winning:
The bust of Winston Churchill, famously removed by Obama and removed a second time by Obama's surrogate (Biden), has been returned by Trump to the Oval Office. The most consequential statesman of the 20th century looking over the shoulder of the most consequential statesman of the 21st century (at least so far). Enough to warm the cockles. Trump is not only giving the Paris Agreement the boot, he is doing the same thing to the Leftist-controlled World Health Organisation.
The WHO is a parasite on Western economies, a sycophant of China, and an apologist for countries that create deadly pandemics. It has overreached itself with treaties designed to usurp the sovereignty of independent countries. The WHO is constantly fear mongering about the “next pandemic” Australia should do a Trump and disconnect from the WHO. Posted by ttbn, Saturday, 25 January 2025 9:35:39 AM

When they left Afghanistan courtesy of Biden, the Americans were forced to leave behind, for the use of or sale of by the Taliban, $7 billion worth of equipment:
. 10,000 ground-to-air missiles . 40,000 vehicles . 300,000 personal weapons . 42,000 pieces of night vision/surveillance equipment . At least 73 aircraft. President Trump has announced that he will request the return of this equipment. Should be interesting. Posted by ttbn, Saturday, 25 January 2025 9:40:42 AM

President Trump's exit from the Paris Agreement will save American taxpayers $1 trillion. A leader with a backbone and control of his party could save Australian taxpayers a lot of money by following the example.
But that's not going to happen with the Liberals. Labor, Teals and Greens all on a ‘unity ticket’ when it comes to the Paris Agreement and the impossible Net Zero. Posted by ttbn, Saturday, 25 January 2025 9:42:43 AM

Albanese Labor (a far cry from the traditional ALP) believes in the transformation of the welfare state into a managerial utopia with the government, in collaboration with superannuation funds, acting as benevolent resource allocators.
Albanese is responsible for the worst decline in living standards since 1959. Small businesses are failing at a record rate due to unaffordable minimum wages, restrictive labour laws, red tape, and high interest rates. Most new jobs are in the non-productive public sector. We now have 2.3 million sucking on the taxpayer teat. Government debt is head headed for $1 trillion in the next financial year. The election of Donald Trump will make the incompetence and extreme Left ideology of the Albanese government even more obvious. That it was Wong and not Albanese who attended the Trump inauguration says a lot about any relationship that could exist between Trump and Albanese. However, it is hard to believe that a Dutton government would be willing to embrace conservative values. The Opposition has displayed anti-conservative and even authoritarian tendencies. It is now regarded as just another Leftist party that tries to be a smidgen to the right of Labor.
Dutton has a few good, anti-Socialist ideas: just not enough of them. He bombs out on free speech, censorship, the Net Zero nonsense, defunding the Australian Broadcasting Communists , abortion, the fact that there are only two sexes, to name but a few of his anti-conservative traits. The Coalition was on the same plane with Labor on Covid, and is no keener to see justice against thugs and Big Pharma than Labor is. They want it to disappear. The Liberal Party is now definitely ‘liberal’ as per the meaning of the world everywhere except Australia - left wing. Dutton has told the media that the Coalition has a “firm commitment” to Net Zero by 2050. The only Coalition member with the backbone and sense to tell the truth is Senator Matt Canavan who has said, “there is no reason Australia should remain in Paris when China, India, Indonesia, and now the US, are not”. You are the one that buys into only one side. Your posting record clearly illustrates that. And just as your "only beacone of truth and honesty"- Donald Trump, you regard everything else as "fake news". I have been professionally trained to use a variety of sources. Foxy,
Well you're the one ho said the only way to support Trump is to think that " scientists, scholars, historians, economists, and journalists, " are deceiving me ie that they are all opposed to Trump. If you think that such attitudes show that you see both sides, well I really can't help you. You might be professional trained to see both sides, but your posts constantly show that that training is being ignored. Struth, you couldn't even bring yourself to see the Pelosi tapes. Sure many scientists, scholars, historians, economists, and journalists oppose Trump and/or have opinions that are in opposition to the tenets of MAGA. But equally many support those tenets and many have views that are similar to those of MAGA. Not being able to see that is the very opposite of seeing both sides. It also ought to be pointed out that a goodly portion of those who oppose MAGA have been the ones setting the agenda for the past 30years that has bought the US to problems it currently encounters. For example there are many economists who oppose Trump's tariffs ideas and attacks on unlimited free trade. But they are the same people who oversaw the transfer of millions of jobs from the US to China and oversaw the massive rise in both the US national debt and in the massive trade deficits. So why anyone would want to continue to follow their prescriptions is hard to fathom, unless you are so blinded by TDS that these facts just don't register Posted by mhaze, Saturday, 25 January 2025 1:50:53 PM

mhaze,
Once again you're making assumptions. I did see the Pelosi video - quite a few times. Banjo explained things rather well to you - concerning the video. Quite frankly - I'm not interested in arguing with you. Your diversions, defences, and blame allocations is your method of operation on this forum. We have totally different outlooks. I'm usually about - live, laugh, love. I'm not about - aim, fire, and re-load. You think that I have TDS. I'm not the one seeking revenge as the man you support is. I shall leave it at that. You say "fake news" I say - "facts first". You say - he'll Make America Great Again. I say he'll Make America Hate Again. And From what he's doing so far - he's doing a pretty good job at it. Enjoy your week-end. Cheers. Posted by Foxy, Saturday, 25 January 2025 2:25:35 PM

Hi Foxy,
See how the forums number one Trumpster approves of his man, the convicted criminal The Donald, releasing violent criminal's from jail. As The Donald said; "People who commit murder don't go to jail, so why should the violent thugs that support me go to jail," I agree with one part of that statement, mass murdering American Presidents (war criminals all of them) don't go to jail. Long suspected the American government was a criminal enterprise, now under Trump we know it is! Posted by Paul1405, Saturday, 25 January 2025 5:53:52 PM

Dear Paul,
I have so many happy memories of America, as well as some that were not so happy that we experienced and saw. After a decade spent there we decided to come home. We don't regret doing that and we can see from our children that we made the right decision. The harm that is being done today will take years to fix. America may never recover from some of it. I don't want to continue talking about the US President. It's too stressful and depressing. See you on another discussion. Take care. Posted by Foxy, Saturday, 25 January 2025 9:51:53 PM

Dear mhaze, . You wrote : « you poo-poohed the message based upon the messenger. I've never accepted that type of thinking » . Media credibility and trustworthiness are crucial in today's information-driven world, mhaze. Credibility doesn't only apply to traditional news outlets. It also applies to social media influencers and bloggers who have gained a following based on their perceived reliability. People tend to agglomerate around media they perceive as reflecting their own interests and opinions. It’s a very comfortable, protective cage in which they voluntarily enclose their minds and unconsciously become brainwashed. I agree with you when you write : « But I guess that when you dedicate yourself to only reading one side of the story, you finally convince yourself that there is only one side to the story » Misinformation and disinformation are rife in the media. "Media credibility and trustworthiness are crucial in today's information-driven world, mhaze."
No argument there. But I was merely using the Bongino site as a vector to show you the Pelosi tapes. What Bongino said about the video was entirely irrelevant to my point. But you relied on it to try to dismiss the video. "Even videos can be rigged." Yes. But this wasn't. "Misinformation and disinformation are rife in the media." Yes. And that's been the case for quite some time. The most egregious example was the way the legacy media and social media worked assiduously to disavow and then hide the Hunter Biden laptop story and the contents therein. (72% of USians now think that Trump would have won in 2020 had the truth about the laptop and Biden's corruption not been suppressed). The legacy media are now aware of their lack of credibility and that it is one of the major reasons for their declining audience. Again they colluded to hide the mental decline of Biden from their viewership and have been exposed in a way that is irrefutable. Heads are rolling and the legacy media are trying to reorient themselves back to the ideals of a free press, ideals which they've abandoned for the past 30 years. The most consequential event here was Musk's purchase of Twitter (now X) and the subsequent breaking ranks with the censorious media. With the release of the so-called Twitter Files and revelations about collusion between the deep state, the White House and the media (the very definition of fascism) eyes began to open. Musk reversing policies that shadow-banned some and straight up excluded others has made X a truly open, uncensored town square. There is lots of rubbish and rubbish claims on X but the combination of Community Notes and open ended critiquing of posts means that rubbish is identified as rubbish with alacrity. That Facebook is also headed down the same path is massive in terms of the US regaining what had been lost - a free and unbiased press. Hopefully the same will happen to TikTok Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 26 January 2025 7:58:17 AM

I have just read an article by someone called Charles Moore.
Mr. Moore thought that the President would have his style cramped by the indoors inauguration, but found the “rhetoric” far more exciting than it would have been outdoors. “Poor Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and behind them the Clintons shrank in their places, like captives paraded in ancient Rome after a military triumph”. Love it! I suppose it's a bit nasty to enjoy the humiliation of some of the worst politicians ever, but, hey, how nasty were they! As Moore pointed out: it takes “a right-wing white president to restore the idea of Martin Luther King that people should be judged not by the colour of their skin but the content of their character”. Among other things that the US has been lacking since Trump's last Presidency. That really must hurt the “anti-racist” Democrats and Left wing virtue-signallers world wide. Sensibly, there is now a three month freeze on America's $60 billion foreign aid program so that it can be properly investigated. Another hint for Dutton if he gets to be PM, and cracks down on Labor-lites in his we-really-don't-know-what-we-stand-for party.

"Nothing to say about your man Donald releasing violent criminals "
Already spoke about it. See above. BTW they were political prisoners, not violent criminals. An old Trotskyite like you probably won't recognisee the difference. ________________________________________________________________ "but found the “rhetoric” far more exciting than it would have been outdoors." Yep it was a glorious inauguration and a great speech. And having all those previous presidents who've wronged the US so much in the last 30 years having to sit there and take it, was priceless. (Although I'd doubt that sleepy Joe would have understood what was going on). Even better was the scene later on in the Oval Office where Trump was simultaneously signing all sorts of Executive Orders while taking unscripted questions from the press. After 4 years of press events being heavily controlled with scripted questions and scripted answers, the scribes of the legacy media seemed completely flummoxed. And all those EO's sitting on the Resolute Desk - signed or waiting to be signed. As someone quipped, the Resolute Desk hasn't seen that much action since the Clinton years (look up Monica Lewinsky to understand the joke) Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 26 January 2025 9:37:22 AM

Dear mhaze, . You wrote to Foxy : « You might be professionally trained to see both sides, but your posts constantly show that that training is being ignored. » . Judging from your posts on this forum, mhaze, that statement sounds like “the pot calling the kettle black”. I must say I have rarely seen a post from you in which you present both sides of a story, and in the rare cases where you have, it was hardly in an unbiased manner, as I recall it but, on the contrary, to better criticise the “other” side of the story. Nobody who reads your posts could possibly ignore your political preferences. They pervade everything you write, whatever the subject. That’s obviously your worldview, and you have every right to express it, but apparently, what you profess is not necessarily what you practice. But, not to worry, mhaze, maybe I’m mistaken and Foxy just happens to have a splinter in her eye. . Posted by Banjo Paterson, Sunday, 26 January 2025 11:42:40 AM

No question I'm basically all in on MAGA. But then after many years of reading and pondering, I was all in on MAGA before there was a MAGA.
Note: MAGA not Trump. Trump isn't what you'd conventionally call a 'good man'. But as Walpole observed..."“No country was ever saved by good men because good men will not go to the length that may be necessary”. (as an aside, another good quote I saw recently...Trump isn't there to clean up the mess caused by Biden but to clean up the mess that caused Biden). But unlike Foxy I'm aware of and have considered the other viewpoints. I make it a point of honour and respect to read EVERY link that is posted here and then critique them where necessary eg Foxy's silly quoting of the Keane article above. If you go through the various threads on OLO you'll find me on all sides of various debates eg being more dismissive of the Libs and very sympathetic to the problem the ALP faces with inflation. But Foxy falls, always falls, on one side of all issues while claiming to have widely read on it. Over the years I've come to doubt that. There are any number of claims detrimental to MAGA and Trump that I let through to the keeper. Its only those that are clearly based on errors or spectacularly biased sources that I challenge. Should I give a specific tick to every anti-Trump claim that I don't dispute or don't have enough information one way or t'other? Might I also point out that you also Banjo, display no desire to present both sides or are aware of both sides. Its the nature of sites like this, especially where you are limited to 350 words - significant nuance is unlikely. Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 26 January 2025 1:30:02 PM

That’s a more reasonable tone, mhaze. Less aggressive. Much more compatible. If you can keep that up, everything will be fine. People will no longer be repulsed by your tone and more open to what you have to say. Allow me to add that if you could put a damper on your obsession with MAGA your message would be even more palatable. And, if you really must make “ad hominem” remarks on this forum, doing so politely and with utmost respect for your interlocutors would also be greatly appreciated. . Thank you for your explanations. As for me, my compass on life’s journey is to head for the facts and limit my beliefs to a strict minimum as they tend to cloud my vision and take me in the wrong direction. I aspire to pragmatism, free-thinking and a keen sense of justice and humanity. I maintain that cap as best I can but occasionally get disoriented – usually due to my own complaisance, laziness, ignorance or incompetence. “Admitting you have a problem is the first step in fixing it”, so they say. And, as I learned from Democritus, the 5th century BC “laughing philosopher” and conceptor of the atom : “Nothing exists except atoms and empty space; everything else is just opinion.” That helps me put things in perspective. . Dutton's excuse for not quitting Net Zero and the Paris Agreement as per the leader of the free world Trump is that it would cost jobs because of tariffs that would put on our exports.
But, one of the very few decent politicians left in the Coalition, Senator Matt Canavan writes: “Some people claim that we have to stay in Paris agreement because otherwise our exports would be hit with carbon tariffs. “The EU is the only region proposing to do this. Their carbon tariffs would impact just 0.11% of our exports. Posted by ttbn, Monday, 27 January 2025 10:08:01 PM

Banjo,
"That’s a more reasonable tone, mhaze. Less aggressive. Much more compatible. If you can keep that up, everything will be fine. " I know is certain circles the stern schoolmarm has a degree of cachê , but I don't think you can carry it off. So spare me the holier-than-thou schtick. "Allow me to add that if you could put a damper on your obsession with MAGA your message would be even more palatable." Yes I get it. If only more people would think like you, we'd all get along much better, eh? Sorry, if I just echoed your views, we'd both be wrong. "I aspire to pragmatism, free-thinking and a keen sense of justice and humanity. " Earlier you'd asserted "10. He insisted the 2020 election was “totally rigged.” The evidence and 77 legal cases prove the opposite." I let it pass at the time, since I couldn't be bothered going over old ground. But the fact is most of the cases didn't look at the evidence. The courts simply said they and/or the plaintiffs didn't have standing to make the case and dismissed it prior to looking at evidence eg the case bought before the Supreme Court by the Attorneys-General of Texas and Florida. So the evidence for rigging wasn't examined by courts. That's just mere Democrat talking points. And I know that because I make myself aware of the other side's claims. So claims of being free-thinking aren't compatible with merely regurgitating one sides unevidenced assertions. And that therefore doesn't offer ANY perspective. Now this is amazing.
Columbia's president announces that his country will not accept illegals deported from the US. Trump is golfing at the time. On the 3rd hole Trump sends out a message on Truth Social announcing a range of tariffs and sanctions against Columbian officials. By the 8th hole, the Columbian president had completely caved in and that not only would he accept these deportations but he's send his own plane to collect them. And its still week one!! So what's next? What else can top a "degrading treatment of deportees. I'm sure there will more from the only person who can "save America". Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 28 January 2025 1:38:37 PM

What's next?
Well the deportations have only just begun. There are an estimated 800,000 known criminals among the illegals, and they will be the first to go. In the meantime, many others are self-deporting. After that they'll start moving on the rest of the 10-20 million that need to be repatriated. Additionally Trump and his team are also focusing on the unaccompanied children who have arrived. For those ill-informed, an estimated 300,000 children arrived under Biden and were fostered to who knows who. Credible evidence is that many ended up as child slaves, or in under-age prostitution. When asked last year where these kids were, Mayorkas, head of the DHS for Biden, said he had no idea. Trump's team has so far found 80,000 of them and has begun the process of reuniting them with their families. That seems to me to be an undeniable good result, but I'm sure the TDS crowd will find fault somewhere - even if they have to make it up. While all that's happening, the southern wall is being erected, the Mexican drug cartels are being targeted, the Canadians are trying to work out how to regain control of their border with the US, The ceasefire is holding, CNN is unravelling, Greenland is negotiating, Russia too, North Carolina is finally receiving the support from the Corp pf Engineers they should have got 3 months ago under the corrupt Biden regime, and California is finally moving water from the north to the fire regions in the south at Trump's instructions. And the man still finds time for a round of golf, pausing in the middle of it to smack some sense a communist sympathising Columbian leadership. Quite amazing. Trump promised a 'shock an awe' first few weeks, with so much happening that the Democrats and their media lackeys wouldn't know where to look. Another promised fulfilled. Hitler surrounded himself with his famous inner sanctum of loyalists, to which he had doled out privileged positions, and charged them with responsibilities of implementing the grand new order, Trump has done the same, people like the quasi-Nazi saluting Elon Musk. For the old pair there were enemies without, the Soviet Union with its Communism, for Trump its China and its Communist asperations. There are many more similarities, but you be the judge.
Just as the conservatives in the Reichstag in Berlin believed on day one they could control this new demagogue, the conservatives in the Capitol Building in Washington, believe the same thing. History proved otherwise, is history about to repeat itself?
