I realize that for some on this forum, using
reputable, credible sources, presenting facts,
citing links, and expert opinions, is not acceptable.
Especially when these impact on their beliefs.

Not everyone is capable of taking an analytical
approach.

However, let's not forget that there is so much
material available to us today on our past history.
Our national and state libraries, our museums, and their
archival collections including their oral
collections, are easily accessible to anyone
interested in doing genuine research on the subject.

It may surprise many once they start their journey on
this path to learning. But it is a very worthwhile
trip - highly recommended to not only learn about the
past but about yourself as well.

Happy Research.

Well worth it.

I can't understand this discussion. The idea that slavery is unacceptable is an achievement of western civilisation. Other developments are debunking racism/upholding the concept of equality of human beings/making the waging of war against other countries illegal/developing democracy.

I look at the discussion as being a retrospective persecution of a western civilisation for the exploitative treatment of other human beings. What happened in South Africa under apartheid? What happens to foreign labour from countries like the Philippines today in places like Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Singapore? No, lets forget what is happening in the rest of the world that doesn't involve western democracies and instead dwell on the horrible things of our dark past. Has anyone given any thought to the idea that the fact we find elements of Australia's history dark and horrible might have a bearing on why such things don't happen legally in Australia today?

Perhaps airbus Albo can raise the issue of foreign worker exploitation on his next overseas trip? Does he ask for upgrades? Plus ones? Did he ever?

The simplistic approach from the conservative side is "nothing to see here". Its suits some who really are giving tacit approval to the wrongs of the past, to want for those wrongs to be now forgotten. The Deep South of United States and elsewhere, owes in part its economic well being of today to the past exploitation of black slaves. Sure, those who profited directly, slaves owners and others are long dead, but a debt is still owed, how that debt is alleviated today is a matter for debate, not to be forgotten and buried as some would like it to be.

I suggest that you can't understand the 'discussion' because there is no discussion: just two pig-ignorant bullies - Foxy and Paul - telling everybody else that they are right and the rest of us are wrong. They are not in the slightest fazed by their minority status, and the fact that most other posters disagree with their BS on just about everything.

All the twaddle about "research" from Foxy is really just her repeating Leftist garbage already put about by the ABC and other Lefist lunatic sources.

Paul 1405 can barely read and write, let alone "research".

Reading their muck is a mug's game. Responding to it is even worse.

These two are the sort that would be causing angst on 'X' for teenagers if they weren't the bitter old hasbeens and self-haters that they are, having to swim in a small pool.

Feel pleased Foxy,

The forums leading reactionary Old Fart makes a feeble attempt to "bucket" on you and I. The blokes a clueless joke, taking comfort from his "I wanta be loved" notion that the majority on a right wing run little forum like this agree with him.

ttbn, I'd rather be what I am, than a sucker who came down in the last shower, and gave money to a political clown so he could live it up at election time at the suckers expense! I still recall your devotion to Corny Banana and his wacko Australian Conservative Party. Fella, as I said, you are a clueless joke.
