Our deportion law requires that the Australian community is protected from those non-citizens who have seriously abused the privilege of residence accorded to them by the Australian community. On the face of it that is perfectly reasonable. The roots of the current controversy was prompted by people being deported who had lived most of their lives in Australia.
To me deporting those people is basically passing the buck. We have accept the same responsibility for them as we have for any citizen.

That deportation law, just like any other law, is meant, and always was, to protect the political ruling class - not "the Australian community", which they have neither will nor capability to protect.

The people in question are criminal scum, who should never have been here in the first place; if we had decent, competent government they would not have been here in the the first place. If we had decent, competent courts, they would have been gone by now.

The responsibility of government is not to these scumbags: it is to Australia and Australians.

The startled-looking fool posing as immigration minister should have been sacked by that gutless wonder, Albanese, long ago.

Baygon,
To me & those who care it is proactive ! Those who wish to help those who reject help but demand compassion without having compassion themselves the option is to go to the source of the problem & curb the problem. To wait for a problem to develop & then invite it in is sheer lunacy. By all means if someone needs help, provide it however, by waiving responsibility & discipline you get what we're facing now. These people don't need help they just want everyone else bow to their whims & of those who facilitated to these shores ! I ask, how many are actual genuine refugees ?

Hi BAYGON,

I wasn't aware that there was any "deportation hysteria."
But I've been focusing on other news stories. On the
Middle-East Conflict, the American election, and so on.

I was aware the people could be removed from Australia who
didn't have a valid visa to be here. And that there were
many grounds for deportation ranging from over staying after
your visa has expired to entering the country without a
visa, to lying and misrepresentation or breaking a condition of
your visa, to having a cancelled visa, to criminal offences,
failing the "character test," and so on.

Anyway, I always took for granted that deportation was a
serious measure and was only done as a
last resort and done with good reaswon.

Was I wrong?

My husband has just filled me in on the details
of the mistakes that were made by the Home
Affairs Department - in releasing some criminals
into our society in error and having their
deportations cancelled due to a new directive.

The PM has asked the law to be re-directed so that
our community will be protected from this happening
again. The Minister has been instructed to take care
of this matter.

"The PM has asked the law to be re-directed "

Yep, Albo always does th right thing...as soon as he realises that what he wants to do is deeply unpopular and might lose votes.

Not exactly the right way to run a country.

I'm sure as a Trump supporter you would know all
about how not to run a country.

My goodness. Cult leader Albo will have a bigger tally than Jim Jones before too long.

Don't drink the cultist cool aid.

As usual.

Nor does the PM have any pre-occupation with the number of
followers one has. He also listens to others. Unlike the
"leader" you admire.

Yes, cult leader Albo is indeed a great man and he makes a wonderful breakfast cereal as well.

So Foxy, why did Albo do a u-turn on this policy immediately AFTER it was clear how unpopular it was?

The man has no real beliefs other than the belief that he needs to remain in power. Not a good policy for a country in trouble.

Hilariously, Foxy hates Trump but keeps trying to defend Albo with reference to Trump. I think the irony of that goes over her head.

Not importing in the first place saves deportation fiascos ! To do that we need a Govt that has ministers with brains, let's hope the next election will provide a smarter lot to choose from !

mhaze,

Our PM is certainly not perfect but he is worthy of
being defended. Unlike former US President Trump
who is not.

The fact that jellyfish have survived for 650 million
years despite not having brains should give some hope
to many Trump supporters.

So still not even a passing attempt to justify Albo's polls-based back-flip on this issue.

Just more of the same old - I want to think he's a good guy, therefore he is. This is the type of voter people like Albo rely on to maintain the only thing he values - power.

mhaze,

whatever blows your sails.

Humanity is losing its geniuses.

Aristotle died. Newton passed away.

Einstein died.

And, I'm not feeling well today.

Well, at least plagiarism will never die, and cult leader Albo's breakfast cereal will continue to shine even now that he no longer looks like JHC with a makeover.

Yes indeed Foxy, but it's nice to add something. Brother Theodore used the line often in his performances, but it was only a brick in the finished building.

Fester,

You wrote:

"Only a brick in the finished building."

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe told us that:

"Architecture starts when you carefully put two bricks
together."

He said:

"Every architectural masterpiece starts with a humble
beginning. It reminds is that every intricate structure is
built upon a foundation of careful craftsmanship and
attention to detail."

See you on another discussion.

Foxy,
By that stage it's already too late, the plans have been signed off ! It's up to the tradies to make it all work !

Indyvidual,

Architecture starts with the creative process, followed
by plans, instruction and supervision. Tradies come in
last to do the physical work. Tradies follow established
practices to complete the work which is then inspected
and approved or corrected.

Foxy,
what it all boils down to is that society should work as a symbiosis & not a grand-standing for a few who answered multiple choice questions to satisfy some ignorant bureaucrat working in education.
Yes, there are very smart & intelligent people but why do you think they don't enter the realm of Public Service ? Because they have intellect & pragmatism & above all they want to improve society, not ruin it !

Indyvidual,

My husband is an example of someone involved in
architecture, building and construction. He's an architect and a
town planner, with many years of experience in
the industry. His company has constructed projects
all over Australia, Europe, and North America,
as well as New Zealand.

As for my having a degree in ignorance?

No. My degrees have been in various specialized fields.
"ignorance" was not taught in the institutions of learning
in which I studied.

Why do you ask?
