The Prime Minister's leadership is safe, with a big swing back to the government in the latest Newspoll.

The Australian’s Newspoll has support for the Government jumping four points to 41 per cent - its best result since February.
Support for the ALP is down four to 47 per cent.

After preferences that narrows Labor’s lead from 18 to 10 points – exactly where it was four weeks ago.

Mr Howard’s lifted one point as preferred prime minister to 38, but that still leaves him trailing Mr Rudd by 10 points.

Health Minister Tony Abbott says it's encouraging, but no one is celebrating just yet.

"It's still not a great poll, it's a better poll," he said.

It is thanks then for small Mercy's,if Labor was to take these numbers into the election many of those ministers would be unemployed.
However further improvement may come for the government, the campaign has not started.
It will be long and dirty focused on the man not policy's, the question remains what policy's?
Climate must be high on the list but we are lead by one who Denys climate change until very recently.
Our commitment in an increasing embarrassment called Iraq is only up for debate on one side.
Still 10% behind in the polls and likely to have a fight to hold his own seat?
The people of Benalong may yet do what the cabinet was unable to ,unseat John Howard.

Belly please explain.85% of the Labor Party's power base comes from Public Servant Unions. How will the Labor Party cater for workers in private enterprise when in reality they do not represent them?

All I see from Federal Labor is increased taxes to benefit the Public Service as has happened under the Carr/Iemma debacle in NSW.

Arjay come settle mate, you do understand that is not true ,you understand it is a lie don't you.
Public servants ,like laborers are just as unlikely to vote Labor as anyone.
Did My reminder this was no landslide back to Howard hurt? is that the reason for the outlandish claim?
This election is not over those about 30 years of age have not voted in an election John Howard did not win.
Many in that age group have no idea what a recession is, have not seen mass unemployment.
Many do not understand it is them who must not over spend on phantom money credit, yet it is them who have done so.
That tidal wave is going to come to us maybe America first but credit has to be paid, interest rates and lies may yet turn this election.
However the polls, nothing other than an indication of how people intend to vote at that time.
Have spoke strongly of change.
Remember it would indeed take a very volatile electorate to turn that around.
And except if it does not happen conservatives never questioned the voters will when the landslide was your way.

Do a survey amongst Govt employees Belly, they know upon which side their bread is buttered.Labor are a high taxing Govt.Already Kevin is talking about 67 new Govt Depts and numerous committees.Does he not know in which direction to take Australia?

Sounds like Gough Whitlam scenarios of high taxing and big spending Govts.Gough sent us broke in 2 yrs.Can Kevin 07 break that record?

The Unions will want to be repaid for their support and often under Labor it is the avenue jobs for the boys used to repay favours.

HI all
I dont think anything is a certainty yet.
Neither the Government or Rudd have it right. At the risk of getting my head bitten off may I say kevin has been around QLD for some time.

If Kevin Rudd could not stand up to one of his own like Peter Beattie his own party member how on earth is he going to stand up for our country?

The fact of the matter is his own party member just walked all over him. Peter Beattie pretty much said look kevin if you want to be a goose go right ahead but mean time I am going to do whats right for the people of QLD.

One of them was a true leader and one needs some more expereince.
Kevin Rudd one day possibly may be a PM for this country.

I would say to any Australian wanting to make up their mind which way to vote just watch parliment.

If the Government want to stay in power they ought to put parliment house up on teli around dinner time and make the people watch it.
Labour have waisted so much of you the tax payers money carrying on like pork chops rather than representing the people.

Who do you trust to protect your family if this country God for bid was attaked and dont say it cant happen because things are not good.

Who do you trust to act and stand up and be bold enough to make the hard calls that might save your familys life by that very descion Rudd or the old fox my enermy the man who has betrayed our Australian Animals.
I could happily scream at him John Howard and put him on a live Animal Export ship.
In fact I would love to. Trouble is my family might need him to stear us here through some troubled waters just round the next corner.
Be extra careful this election when you vote.
May the Greens Shine through who support the banning of the barbaric live Animal Trade Australia`s greatest Shame.
