Dear indyvidual,

What in the hell are you talking about?

The NIAA is not a representative body like ATSIC was. It doesn't even have a board, just a CEO appointed by the same minister she reports directly to.

It is basically a government department, doing the government's bidding, and carrying out government policy.

It is in no way shape or form a Voice.

The 'Voice' of the No campaign was Warren Mundine. He is the chairman of Fuse Metals, a mining exploration company heavily backed by Gina Rinehart's son Patrick.

That is raw self interest if I've ever seen it.

All taxpayer funding of remote communities should be immediately withdrawn, & not a cent more wasted. We have spent billions supporting the fallacy that these places are good for aboriginal communities, & have totally proven they just don't work for anyone.

As with graziers, if people want to live way out in the sticks that is their right, but they have no right to expect tax payers to fund that right. If todays aboriginals can not support themselves off the land, then they should move to where they can support themselves, just as everyone else does. We do not need a tax payer funded stone age zoo.

The so-called 'gap' is caused by some aborigines choosing to live in remote areas and putting a gap between themselves and modern Australian society where 80% of Australians with an aboriginal background are to be found living and working, getting educated.

Nothing will close that gap until people voluntarily living in isolation decide to close it. Nothing can be done by a surrogate elite paid lots of money and living in capital cities.

Traditional aboriginal culture is no longer practical or appropriate for Australia. It ceased to be relevant in 1788.

Dear Hasbeen,

How's it going old cock? Good?

Fully agree. These rural Shires which cost taxpayers 8 times the per capita rate of our cities really need to fend for themselves for infrastructure. Providing services and things such as roads needs to be done on the basis of how productive areas are. If farm produce needs transporting then specific roads get supplied. Otherwise suck it up.

The worst are those little semi rural hamlets full of retirees sucking off the taxpayer's teat. They need to return to the cities where the costs of looking after them are greatly reduced.

Bring it on.

SteeleRedux,
Yes, the hordes of ex bureaudroids turned hobby farmers on their salary sacrificed & negative gearing acreages are the real culprits on the Govt teats.
The blue collar pensioners who generally built their homes with their own hands & paid the full Tax rates hardly get any of those handouts.
