Off Shore Detention Contracts

The Albanese government has ordered a public servant review into Coalition government contracts relating to off shore processing of refugees in Nauru, contracts awarded to a company operated by a Mr Bhojani. Peter Dutton is front and centre in this matter, with the AFP saying they briefed Dutton when he was the minister responsible about the activities of Mr Bhojani. Despite the warning from the Federal Police about Bhojani, Dutton appears to have done nothing, and a fresh contract for $9.3 million was then awarded to Bhojani's company to provide accommodation for refugees and asylum seekers. A month later the AFP charged Bhojani with paying bribes to Nauruan officials. Bhojani pleaded guilty and was convicted in 2020.

Dutton appeared on the 7.30 Report last evening, and in my opinion his explanation of " Nothing to see here...I know nothing...I can't recall" was less than convincing. Several parliamentarians are now calling for this matter concerning Dutton to be escalated to the new NACC, or to a level of a Royal Commission at the very least.

It seems to me this is the sort of thing the National Anti-Corruption Commission was set up to deal with. It requires more than a public servant inquire, it requires a much broader investigation.

Dear Paul,

I don't understand what's the point of all this?

I thought that our ties with Nauru are finished.
That there are no more contacts there.

So what's the government hoping to achieve with any
investigation -when it's all ended?

Surely they're not planning on using Nauru again?

And now spending money on something that's over -
would be a waste - wouldn't it?

The money could be better spent elsewhere rather than
looking for dirt on something that's ended.

Hi Foxy,

No, its not related to the actual offshore processing of asylum seekers on Nauru as such, that's now history. What is of concern is Duttons relationship as the presiding minister with, and subsequent (non) action, after be informed by the AFP that the mysterious Mr Mozammil Gulamabass "Mozu" Bhojani, if that's his name, was being investigated by them over bribery of Nauruan officials. Bhojani through his private company held millions of dollars worth of government contracts to supply accommodation for refugees on Nauru. It seems Dutton failed to act on that information supplied by the police, in the normal course of event you would expect Dutton to have acted with a word to his department; "What's going on here, I've been given a very disturbing brief by the AFP about our dear friend Mr Bhojani, lets hold off before awarding him any more contracts" but Bhojani's company was awarded another $9.3 million in government contracts, soon after. Dutton is now trying to pull the "I can't remember" routine, and claiming ignorance! Well it stinks, and the new NACC should get its teeth into this asap!

Albo would make a good miner. He will dig any amount of earth in an attempt to find even a trace of dirt.

The little nasty man had better be very careful. Unless he can derail completely out democracy, the other mob will be back in power some day. If they were to take the same attitude, he & a lot of his mates would fill a moderate prison for a long time.

Yeah lets just move on, leave it all in the past. No need to dredge things up from history.
Same as once the drug dealer has done the deal its done now lets leave it behind. Once someone gets murdered theres nothing we can do so no point dwelling in the past just move on.

WTF?? Hold these miscreants to account, punish them for their crimes and hopefully deter future scumbags from copying them.

You listening robodebt scum?
