Actually, there are 3 criteria that have to be met
that the government assigns in order to be counted as
Aboriginal. 1) Ancestry. 2) self-identification.
3) Acceptance by a community in which you live or have
lived. Plus formal application and proof may be required depending
on what you're applying for.

It's not as easy as you're implying.
