Wendy also helps with pale which is for People Against Live exports and intensive farming.I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rules by putiing a contact number up here. However as this is for good intention I hope it will be ok. 0755392369. email www.livexports.com www.halakindmeats.com or just click on the web page at email address[either one will do] In the mean time I will give you an idea of wbhats in mind. Something that may have been over looked with domestic dramas is that Aboriginal anything is very sought after world wide. I am sure you are aware of that. We beleive the only way getpeople nterested is to give them their own business. now that can be anything from grandma growingsome herbs in the back yard or sitting up making babbies booties and her son exporting those those products as Grandma` home herbs and bush tucker etc right through to cosmetics[ nonanimal tested bushtucker Indigenous Organic vegetables etc . What you need is a way of making sure the ownership of the business is "free from Goverment Ownership" There are many people with land and stations and leases on land without the means to add infustruture themselves. Australia sends its raw materials overseas and our jobs along with it. Data shows a direct and indirect economical linkages of meat processing embrace a wide range of sectors including transport, wholesale,trade,energy,, packaging and paper, other feedlot products, plastic, mechanical and other repairs, banking and many others. Wet Seasons are used to vaule add. Roo Ranches. Schools to train. With the climate change the Kimberleys will be the new face of many in the Trade. Lets make sure its controlled by its rightful owners. - Every brother and sister should have the right to proudly put their hand up and say- thats 'my familys" farm, factory , school and tourist business. The Regional Partnership Agreement was introduced with such fanfare as an agreement that sets out strategic and innovative approaches and projects for joint action by Indigenous organisations and individuals, Industry and Governments to address the unacceptably high levels of unemployment experienced by young Indigenous people in the East Kimberley. In doing so, the parties to this agreement seek to build sustainable, prosperous communities to maximize opportunities for individuals to:
• gain and create employment in mining and other industries;
• seek and engage in training and education; and
• share in the wealth created by the presence of the mining industry in the region and that arises from engagement in mainstream employment.
Since signing the agreement on the 6th November 2006, the focus on Indigenous people to enter the work force, has had little impact for opportunities to enter in sustainable employment or business development, more over, the level of their entry to employment has actually lowered as becoming part of the push to create 300 jobs a year has them entering at traditionally low paid jobs, but this is covered by a smoke an mirrors approach with the mining industry in this region paying highly inflated wages and very little professional development to have advancement to senior management roles which they are capable of.
The option of Indigenous people going into business themselves is narrow in scope as the business they choose.The development of business has been guided to 3 main areas
1. Tourism: is doubtful to be sustainable as the Australia wide tour operators will continue to dominate the market.
2. Retail: The retail business is community own and mostly operated by non Indigenous people
3. Building Industry: The outcome of finishing the traineeship is successful, but continuing and becoming a tradesman is non-existent.
It would be unlikely to say own and operated by Indigenous people.
The Regional Partnership Agreement for the East Kimberley is ill-conceived with little or no discussion with Indigenous groups or Individuals and with no accountably to the public and adhock outcomes for Indigenous people.
