Australia should consider human rights when it gets into cosy deals with places such as the repressive state of Singapore.

Now to address the lies of Otokonoko...

Singapore is not really a clean or safe place. If you happen to be a foreigner or upper middle-class, and live in a fashionable neighbourhood, it may be the case. But most Singaporeans live in HDB estates where it isn't uncommon to find dog/cat/rat poo lying around. As you walk around the HDB estates at night, you can find a colorful collection of drunks, empty beer bottles and their vomit.

But certain 'show areas' such as Orchard are kept clean for foreigners such as yourself. Just so you may defend the 'clean' image when activists - local and foreign - criticize the Singapore government.

As for Singapore having 'low crime', I ask you to google the term 'dark figures', and consider the fact that Singapore does not have a free press.

And what exactly is the 'Singaporean way' you speak of, pray tell? Are you talking about the way of a minority elite who chose themselves to rule over free born citizens like myself? If you are saying the 'Singaporean way', which seems to include a distaste for freedom that first world countries are enjoying, is the way of the majority of Singaporeans, then I would dearly love to throw that 'cultural imperialism' remark right back in your culturally imperialistic face.
