Ignorance of the law is no excuse. So here's a bunch of things you can't do without council approval.

injects us with stuff...rules/regs/applications/policing

while their next..little grub..consumes us alive

till we break out...and realise we became a potters wasp
we became that..which consumed us

Councils have definitely developed a sense of their own importance.
Just try putting in an application for a radio antenna.

If your antenna is mounted on the house and is less than 1.5 metres
above the house ridge it does not need an application.
However they do not enforce the regulation anyway.
In low areas thousands of antennas are very much higher. That is
alright then, they are TV antennas. Arrgghh.

If it is not attached to the house and it is 500 mm high it needs a
development application. Strictly speaking don't stand your mobile
phone on the BBQ table as you have an illegal antenna.
