Despite what can read like attempts to will it to death, the family unit is proving resilient, as are its housing needs.

Ok what Bernard Salt is pointing out that the family unit has changed over the last 20 years or so, and he is correct. Years ago once you left high school you got a job and got married and had children all before the age of 25. Yes sure the family unit is popular but the decline is nothing to be worried about, its just where we are in society at the moment. It might interest you to know that in New Zealand the number of people choosing to get married is on the decrease while currently Australia is steady. Also as more of society is starting to accept gay relationships, I feel more gay people are coming out of the closet and starting relationships together. I know a number of guys who are single and are flatting still at the age of 27/28. Bernard Salt is simply pointing out statistics, and it does not take a rocket scientist to see that being married with two children living in a house with a white picket fence is on the out.
