"The Australian push for negotiations is actively undermining the ability of Pacific Islands to have the critical discussions that they need to have about how they want to economically engage with Australia."
I voted for various leaders because they said they cared about the issues facing small Island Nations.
My attention to these leaders was heartfelt during the 2005 World Summit.

It seems this was the only space where Small Island states got a real 15 moments each to tell it like it is.... as poor as the width of world focus is.
Seems to me that all the hype and media excelled around the event of disasters is misplaced when the one facing these small Island nations most is continuous impacts of climate change.
I remind us of the Vietnam War. Sure we cared enough to assist voice the need to stop the war.... but what about the follow up during the aftermath.
Why do we find prevention so difficult.
Why are we so unpertinacious?
We need to build a greater meaning for change behind the Mauritius Strategy.

Our habit of being prompted merely by disaster is DUMB PLUS inhumane.
Move over Australia we each have a promise to measure, connect and fulfill.
