The last line in the article is probably the most important one - "While we're patting ourselves on the back that Chinese bond purchases don't mean much, we should remember that selling all these bonds to anyone is a sign the US is in trouble."

It is also worth remembering that Chinese policies can change in the future. None of which augurs well for the poor Greenback.. decades of burgeoning trade and fiscal deficits will not see its value sustained forever... it will be one hell of a meltdown when it comes.
