New insecticides are crucial in battle against malaria : Comments

To sustain the fight against insect-borne diseases we must improve research funding for public health insecticides.

There is a pesticide that is cheap effective, persistent and is difficult to build resistance to. It is called DDT.

The vast use of it in the past on crops, and it persistence caused damage to the environment, however, restricted use for spraying households and residential areas would drastically reduce the deaths by malaria (by millions per annum) whilst having little effect on the environment.

However, as the greens are unlikely to compromise to save a few miserable humans.
