Why should pregnancy be a secret ?
The reality, there's another agenda - an ulterior motive. The reality, in today's vernacular - careerist want it both ways. First, dont tell the Boss, or my job is on the line ! Unless your employer is the ACTU or Public sector - pregnancy leave is anathema. It will be yonks before it's universally accepted in the real world. With all the Office rivalries and cat-fighting-bitchiness, it obvious she wants her cake, and..etc.
Secondly, there may be paternal problems. Down the line she may want to abort to save her marriage or teneous relationship.
Thirdly, there is the monetary bogie which affects > 85% pregnancies today. The idea of giving up work and looking after the newborn is a double whammy few envisage. Specifically, there may be a mortgage or an up-market CBD rental penthouse. Isn't love blind ?
Fourthly, teenager's today are oblivious to the numerous risk factors involved with pregnancy. They are virtually blinded by the Govt's $5000.00, plasma TV or worst, triflying baubles, bangles & worthless beads.
In the long term, our generous taxpayer funded Govt largesse, will have to face the moral dilemma which is rearing it's ugly head. Who will support the raft of newborn down the track ? Adoptions, half-way houses, St Vinnies, and more Federal/State aid pumped into an overloaded crisis prone economy to ensure survival of the fittest. ABS reports 252,000 births, 2008 alone; a rise of 15 %. Without work, deprived of parentage, the future is bleak indeed. The vast percentage of teenage births are attributed to ignorance, opportunism and plain bloody-mindedness. There is little forethought, let alone realistic expectations for either themselves or their off-spring. No thought to binge-drinking, smoking, drugs or parental guidance.
The TGA, Medescape etc websites urges emphatically for pregnant women to abstain from the multitude of risk factors
