Australia's affordable housing crisis: the price of poor public policy : Comments

The element that is missing from this debate is that housing unaffordability is a public health issue. Housing is a human right as defined in the Charter and Covenants. Australia is a nation that has paid selective attention to the human rights instruments and remains unaccountable for ongoing failures. But if the debate that we should have never had to have on housing affordability is to address the problem then the public health consequences must be included.
