By Stephen Keim, published 29/9/2008

Mr Keelty and the Australian Federal Police should be called to account for their investigation into Dr Haneef.

Thank you for a clear summary of the events surrounding this alarming case.

It seems clear to me that the Haneef case was politically motivated and ill-judged. It's disturbing that the authorities were so inept.

If there's a genuine threat to our national security we must hope that our security forces are led by more intelligent and clear-headed people than the current lot.

looks like a bunch of keystone cops. obviously an example of the worst case of what could happen with the draconian anti terrorist laws that are supposed to protect us. apparently the only things these laws protect are the current government and their dolts from the clear light of day.

I wonder what Rudd is hiding from here. what is it he and his government is trying to cover up so the general populace can't get a look in?

Not only was, and is, the treatment of Dr Haneef baseless and appalling, the authorities allegedly responsible for our security have tied up significant resources for over a year on this non-case, rendering them unavailable for real work. It is distressing that unconscionable actions begun under the Howard government continue to be protected - through concealment of information and hampering of the Clarke inquiry - under the Rudd government.

i can't think why you commoners are discussing matters of state. it is not your place. tug yer forelock, and retire to telly and beer.

"you get the government you deserve" is the fundamental law of political science. if you think like subjects and act like subjects, you will be treated like subjects. your masters in parliament have the power to do as they please. in consequence, they do what they think will keep them in power. lies and secrets are their chief tools. if you are amazed to be lied to, or not informed, then you are severely stupid, or blinded by social conditioning. usually, both.

there is a superior form of society, it was called 'democracy' before newspeak corrupted the ideal, which would provide actual justice to all. but democracy is too good for ozzians, they simply aren't up to it, due to cultural conditioning. subjects can't sustain democracy, it needs 'citizens'.

which is why politicians like to refer to oz as a democracy, and it's people as citizens, rather than subjects. it keeps the people's brains in a state of passive acceptance, as they imagine "this is as good as it gets."

well, yes. if you swallow this reverse education, it won't get any better.

you'd think a barrister would be smart enough, sufficiently well educated, to understand the legal principles on which this country is run. perhaps they do, and merely are in search of a quid, when they complain that the bandits in parliament are acting like bandits.

Dear Spikey... do you know ANYthing of this nature which is not 'politically motivated' including your own comment and the tone and nature of the article?

I stand aghast at the idea held by some that only 'they' (the other mob) are the politically motived ones and 'we' are the true blue dinky die hard yakka fair dinkum ones who alone are on the right unbiased track.

A mild re-think there might be in order.
