Let's not forget Little Johnny Howard's contribution to this housing mess.Let's say a new house is priced at $350K this would amount to $31K and of course this also has a upward impact on established homes market value. This makes his first home owner's grant a joke.Would it not be fairer to allow first home owner's a GST exemption since in my opinion housing is a basic neccesity just like bread, milk and oxygen or even price regulated so as to also eliminate the greedy speculators and flippers.I know that this flies in the face of the free market philosophy that hopefully would eventually correct this absurd situation. It seems that one can be born into this housing frenzy and in order to survive one has to submit to the extortionate pricing set by colluding people before them.
