Sel-harm is the result of several things.
Firstly the whole worldview of secular Western and Australian philosophies that have rejected the teachings on God, family and time with one's family as taught by the Catholic Church, is to blame.

Libertarians, anti censorship that leads to porno 'art'and materialism alone policies without God and his teachings being the guiding hand has led us down a path to massive selfishness. The kids know it, they know that their parents love the pokies, overworking for material gain, too much sport, the latest plasma screen that will die within 4 years and go to the rubbish tip etc etc. This is what slob parenting in the modern world is all about and the kids know it. Quantity time of loving one's family is what life is about. 'Quality' time is a big lie. So is the big business and government and media lie of 'work/life balance'.
Nah. Family first and family time via traditional Labor policies prior to the secularisation of the 1960s and the 1974 Family Law Act; daily Mass, Novenas to Our Lady and the Saints and Roasary with the whole family is what life is really about.

'nice' parents are on the way to Hell as they want to live their lives without God and their kids are neglected and become suicidal, drug takers, promiscuous...etc
