Intersting point about Tasmanian civil union laws. For example here in the ACT the ACT Government's proposed civil union laws go further than Tasmania and the Federal Government is using Tasmania as an example to stop the more progressive ACT legislation. Historically and rather crudely I think the need for capitalism to produce the next generation of workers cheaply saw and sees this manic push around the family. The elite saw homosexuality threatening the cheap production of future workers and so, along with stereotyping women as baby machines, outlawed homosexuality. The changing nature of women in the workforce, the womens' liberation movement and the radical and fighting gay movements around the world have forced some concessions from the bourgeoisie. If the struggle stops, no matter how good the laws look on paper, then the elite begin their attempts to win back any gains. Keep up the great campaign work. The real meaning (based on the use of the term currently) for 'progressive' is... 'degenerate'
In Gods eyes anyway. There is nothing 'progressive' except as AC/DC put it... No stop signs, speed limit Nobodys gonna slow me down Like a wheel, gonna spin it Nobodys gonna mess me round Hey satan, payed my dues Playing in a rocking band Hey momma, look at me Im on my way to the promised land Im on the highway to hell (dont stop me) Of course...even on the highway to hell, you are making 'progress'...but the direction is the critical point. The obvious response to anyone either on, or waving others on.. in the rush down that highway is..'turn... or burn'... as per the meaning of the lyrics. Homosexual behavior.. just like incest and bestiality, (which often occrs between 'consenting' people or consenting animals.. ) is just one of a number of specifically identified behaviors which are condemned utterly in God's Word. Just as we expect anyone with a 'predisposition' to enjoy sex with little children to supress that desire, and rather, re-direct their sex drives in a more appropriate and acceptable direction, we also expect those who feel/believe they are 'predisposed' to enjoy sex with their own gender, to do the same. It matters not whether we amble along at 5km/hour or go 'pedal to the metal' 200km/hour on that 'highway'... the destination is the same. Posted by BOAZ_David, Tuesday, 8 April 2008 6:03:26 AM

Hi Passy,
Actually, the ACT laws don't go further than Tasmania's. In every respect Tasmania's are more progressive. Here's why http://www.rodneycroome.id.au/comments?id=2645_0_1_0_C The Federal Government says it supports the Tasmanian model, but the model it supports is actually a greatly watered-down version. Thanks Rodney. I wonder the why A-G McClelland is so keen on the Tasmanian model. Certainly he fears the ACT model is too close to marriage and that would alienate the Christian right and Labor right.
Most of my information comes from the Canberra Times so I guess I am not that au fait with the subtleties of the discussion, although I personally would have thought marriage was an appropriate model - a loving relationship between two people committed to each other and declaring that commitment with family and friends. The only alternative is genuine socialism with its social equality and social justice and an end to war.
