At the very time that 85 countries are seeking a treaty to ban cluster munitions Australia has decided to buy them.

I would think that cluster bombs are for attack and not defence.

the purpose of an army is attack, not defense. the australian government would feel less god-like if they didn't have a general to instruct: "go there, kill them."

then too, a few thousand sas spread around parliament does add a comfort to pollies engaged in corrupt practices. no telling when the boy scouts might rebel.
