The Chaser's 'just war' on celebrity worship : Comments

By Tim Kroenert, published 13/11/2007

Satire is a cerebral comic form that by its nature thrives on putting people offside.

The Chasers are becoming lampoons of themselves in a way. Success has gone to their heads and they ,from their superior perch, are now rubbishing others just for cheap laugh.Put downs are easy.
They were funny once ,'were' the word is to use.Now I find them irritating and off target. Switch off.

Says you mickijo. As I see it, there's plenty of television shows out there, but at the moment there's only one Chaser. Until you can point me to a show that does intelligent satire of current events in a better way, then let em be.

They remind me of a bunch of schoolboys who never grew up and still won't take responsibility for their own actions. A job made in heaven for some blokes. Just try imagining a woman doing the things they do - would everyone find it funny? I don't think so....

Having said that, they are entertaining, often right on the mark, and just occasionally brilliant (like last weeks musical bus scene).

Then again, the threesome in a Sleep City showroom bed (previous series) left a lot to be desired. I couldn't see the societal or political relevance, and it certainly wasn't satirical (unless bed manufacturers are running for Parliament in '07)

The Chaser is the last home of real humour in australia, no wonder the whinging RightThinking parrots of the plutocracy hate them http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22611095-5006022,00.html

The contrast between Chaser and the eunuchs on 7/9/10 (hi Rove!) is too obvious, so we can expect the hate mail to continue. Meanwhile, has anyone got Chas's Senate campaign managers number? Family First want to do a preference deal but first they need a lawyer who's worked in child protection..

The chaser's war on everything! I just love them. I think the message they are trying to get across is, We all should have the right to say and think and what we like! Just think about it! Its our world too. and we are all been put into a little circle of bull_ s--t, and you know the disease is greed. To all the greedy people out there! think about this! You can take it all with you. But you can leave some for the people of tomorrow.
