By Scott Prasser, published 18/9/2007

Beattie’s premiership, in keeping with his personality and immense abilities, was the most presidential in Australia.

What a blantant load of rubbish about a low life like Peter "Brutus" Beattie and his term as Premier of KKK Queensland.

Like many who knew Brutus Beattie, Wayne Goss and Kevin "Noddy"Rudd personally during the anti-Joh days, we thought he would be seeing future leaders that we could trust to change things for the future of our State.

Oh!! how horribly wrong we were about "Brutus", for he has become the very thing we hated about Joh, a Politician, and far from being the tiger for Human rights we thought he would be in Government. Brutus as Premier of Queensland has been the picture boy for the Police State, with police brutality in places like Palm Island and civil rights abuses of other Indigenous communities on the increase during his term in office.

The deaths of Indigenous people in custody or lost at sea that had occured during his term were of no concern to Brutus, just ask the people of Palm and Thursday Island. But when several white people die in hospital at the hands of Indian doctors he calls for a full investigation.

Is it any wonder then that Queensland now the reputation globly of the deep south of the US and that the Tourist Industry is suffering as a result of it.

I have no doubt that Noddy also a Queenslander will be no better if he gets in the Lodge, at least with Howard we can trust him to do nothing.

This article must be meant as a joke. The reality is because of Mr Beattie's governments incompetence (no infrastructure nor water, health it goes on...) it will take years to clean up the mess.

Anna Bligh is exactly what we need for Queensland and especially to HELP clean up the cultural scourage of issues we have here in Cooktown and Cape York. Like Beattie Anna understands Community engagement and what helps and doesn't help when it come to quality consult and progresive planning when attempting to up-grsade infrustructure in the BUSH.

Social Justice is important to Anna, as it is to Gillard and Rudd. This is a telling combination and something I do look forward to in the bigger picture.

As well Anna ability to raise awareness on key issues will go beyond politics. People in isolated areas will have an opportunity to re-engage, to play a role in their communities and perhaps find the empowerment and courage to run for elections within their own local COUNCILS.

The Qld gov has also put Desley (finally) in the right position. I know Desley Boyle will excell in this role. Having the experience she gained through "CHILD SAFETY", will help her up-take the universal demand and vision of smaller economies here in Queenland to find productivity through fair exchange by building on local markets... by building capacity at all family support levels.

New Skills Micro-Enterprise training is key with the Queensland State Government. This again is the value of Reform, where the bulk of administration and red-tape that has been watering down the return for funds spent... in this area... will become easier to cope with through the social adjustment policies that are present but not enforced through local administration and leadership at GROUND LEVELs.

Local Councils have been baring the brunt... individuals leading within these organisations have been at cross-fire having poor understanding of LA21 polices and their connectiveness at local - national and international linkages.

The worst problem has been in the essentail services, Health - Police and Council. With the Federal focus on CRISIS, these organisation are not intergrated, they opperate each unto a world of there own, wasting valuable human capital and overlapping resources where we need more openess, co-operation and inclusiveownership and participation.
