If you want to predict an election outcome then you may be better served looking at the betting market rather than the opinion polls.

I'll wager here and now that the election will be held on the 10th of November. Not for the reasons outlined so well in the article, but for the sentimental reason of repeating Pig Iron Bob Menzies feat.

And I will wager nothing can turn this around for Howard even whatever nasty he has planed.

It is far too late for the Howard Government to do anything to survive, perhaps if Costello had had the guts to challenge last year they may have been a narrow bet. Then again Costello is a follower of the lunatic pentacostal cult Hillsong, who would want him as PM? WE NEED A CHANGE FROM THIS TIRED OLD GOVERNMENT IN ANY CASE. Rudd at least at this stage appears to be closer to the electorate that Howard has ever been.
