Yes! Preschoolers gain success in life, not just in preschool, when they are given the tools to expand their communication skills. Guiding preschoolers to extend their language and to extend their thinking is the biggest job of parents and preschool teachers. My experience in American preschool is that preschool teachers often use language only to "control" their classes - to move them around from activity to activity. And parents of preschoolers tend to do the same. In fact, only by listening to how my children's preschool teachers talked to them did I learn how to really use language to develop my kids' minds.

I am very curious to know if readers from other countries feel the same. American preschool teachers would do well to use the same techniques that Dr. Susan Colmar explains so well. This is a great article that I'll be recommending to my adult students, preschool teachers.
