Large parts of Yogya may be buried under rubble but it isn’t hard to imagine a revival for this cultural heartland of Indonesia.

Thanks for the concern, Mr Yusuf. Thankfully, Yogyakarta city is spared from the terrible devastation suffered by its adjecant town Bantul. There was no major damage in the city itself, within a day electricity and communication services has been restored and the airport reopened. Today, the city has returned to normal with the bustling food stalls and universities as crowded as before the earthquake.
