sneekeepete,

I respect your views.
In this forum it is inevitable that there will be polarisation of views and attitudes.
If someone posts on a subject about which I have knowledge and experience, and if I consider the views expressed to be naive then I shall say so in my response. OK ?

The focus of Christian leaders is clearly to promote religion. The Bishops are also managers of staff; administrative and religious. They deal with the day to day issues relating to those they manage. Political Ministers do not deal with personnel matters. When mistakes are made politicians will run for cover and deny responsibility, DIMIA being a good example. Church leaders employ more people than those who critise them; that is, politicians. The various Churches employ thousands of people throughout Australia, I would venture to say.

Religious leaders also have an expertise that politicians do not have; they communicate with their parishiners and have an idea of whats going on for people in their parish. Politicians are clueless in this regard.

Good on you, Ant,

In this elitist, trickle down, bet your savings on a big corporate, we have in existence now, it is good that the regular churches are having their say. Also with Hillsong staying neutral or worse, even our non-believers must guess there is something wrong with our politico-economic world-shapers. God help our great grandkids if this is really how it's going be, with the Hillsong Church and its born-again US equivalent replacing our regular churches, as part of what looks like the New World Christian Order.

Even though one is not a church-goer, one still remembers the lessons of the Sermon on the Mount, so one asks for three cheers for our tried and tested regular churches for adopting the position they have taken.
