It is nice to have some commentary from someone who no doubt has first hand experience of poverty in Africa. Sadly most of our information about poverty in Africa comes from armchair experts such as ourselves, or fabulously wealthy celebrities who wouldn't even know the price of bread.

Money may be the root of much evil in Africa, but in the west it seems to be the answer to every problem. Live 8 was about money and celebrity and music, and as Bashir implies the only thing it really had in commmon with Africa was its beat.
