The Pope is/was a Polly just like ours, he wouldn't of had a clue about land rights someone here would have written the speech and he would have read it out. Racist are not all white, just like sexist aren't not all men.

kenny , why wouldn't Pope John Paul 2nd know about Aboriginal land rights ? one doesn't have to stay in the past with it's old racist prejudice , he didn't . it's time we all moved forward .

Perhaps I'm getting old and cynical but how many more moralizing speeches will we hear from the powerful that have now learnt the fine art of rhetoric?

And as for our own George Pell, guardian angel for little Johnnie, he would not have endorsed the sentiments expressed by PJP the 2nd in this speech.

And, I doubt the current Pope even knows who Aborigines are.

Rest assured if he ever visits, his press secretary will whip up a speech that makes all Catholics proud while simultaneously absolving them from their own disrememberings
