I strongly agree with Michael Robinson. We need to be even tougher on drug trafficking, dealing and usage than ever before, not softer. 80% of all violent crime (including murders, riots, burglaries, muggings, rapes and domestic violence) have at their core a drug/alcohol issue. When there is substantial drug use in a community, there is a very high crime rate. Whole communities can suffer just because people are turning a blind eye to 'some druggies' or 'a bit of drugs'. Australia is also expecting an early alzheimer's epidemic because of the large amounts of drug use by our young people. Instead of at, say, age 60, people will have to be sent to nursing homes from the age of 40. Marijuana (a very commonly used drug) alone can ruin a teenagers frontal lobe (anger management, social rules, common sense, forward thinking). There is also a specific brain tumour that ONLY occurs when marijuana has been used. The longer we allow 'a little bit of drug use' to infiltrate our society, the more dearly we will pay in the long run. Do what you can to stop drug usage now. Please.
