A flash in the pan is a very old idiom; only time will tell if the flint ignites the charge, but as the circumstances of an ever increasing number of people in Australia is changing for the worse, the “Pauline” flash may actually transform Australian politics into something universally useful.

Intelligent people are fed up with the political situation; there is nothing ‘experimental’ about it.

As for the appeal of One Nation/Pauline Hanson “wearing off”, the the same old, same old, after every election has never had much appeal, and more than a few people don't want to put up with the entrenched misery any more.

All the ‘what ifs’ and how will they pay for policies (when they are accused of not having any) have never been mentioned, and answers never demanded of the boring, failed uniparty. Even some Right commentators are saying that One Nation should do this, that, and the other when they have never demanded the same of the rusted on uniparty.

No. They fall back on abuse and lies - such as the one about Hanson wanting the return of the white Australia policy, when she has categorically denied that she wants any such thing.

Anything to avoid change. It's as though Australians - or at least their self-appointed spokespeople - prefer the current situation that will kill the West, to the chance of real change for the better.

However, I have to agree with the author that the traditional ‘right’ has run out of steam, talking to each other to no avail. But, Hanson and One Nation are a different breed. They don't hum and hah, and try to compromise with the enemy. And, no doubt about it, the skeleton of what was once an alternative to Socialism, the Coalition, is now as much the enemy, not just of ON, but of all of us and our country.

Perhaps he might try understanding why Farage and Hanson (and Trump and Marie le Pen and AfD for that matter) are so popular with the overlooked and oppressed masses. But that'd involve understanding the plebs and that's a bridge too far. After all, the plebs who support Hanson and Farage are so icky and have this strange aversion to having their culture overturned against their will and their prepubescent daughters turned into sex slaves.
