Of trust and trusts : Comments

By Graham Young, published 21/5/2026

Our existing political elites fundamentally broke trust over the Covid debacle. They panicked, threw the manual out the window, and then used the full power of the state, and state adjacent institutions, to impose panic on the whole population.

A common view of the ageing voter, is the grip on his own future is slipping away from him.

Staying nimble in those circumstances requires tenacity and a solid trust in the traditions of the past; less panic and more simple resignation: Smell the flowers!

“Our existing political elites fundamentally broke trust over the COVID debacle”. And they are already murmuring about the hantavirus. If that gets a hold here, we will back on Covid restrictions before we know it. Australians are definitely not a ‘never-again’ people. Moaning about the budget now, they are responsible for putting the lying S.O.B Albanese Labor back in for another term.

They still have two thirds of that term to get through. The arrogance of the liar in chief in his response to the accusations of lying make it clear that he is not listening. Albanese is a dictator (too much time with Xi) and the rest, including Chalmers, are faithful idiots without minds of their own.

As an ‘old fart’, who saved and led a simple life that is now sneered at by the know-alls who will bear the brunt of Socialism, verging on Communism, long after I'm gone, I am relatively immune. And, sorry folks, I can't find much sympathy for people who ignore and laugh at advice from the past.

Hi Nuremberg Dan,

Good to have you back, how was the pilgrimage? As a nonagenarian do you have a 50 year plan in place for yourself, maybe some long term investment that matures in the year 2076....or just the standard funeral plan, like me, ready to go? Seems more sensible.

The question is, how is real wealth produced, it's produced through the work of labour, first and foremost, not through investment of capital in such things as cryptocurrency, or the set up of a Trust for the financial benefit of a few. Labour cannot produce real wealth on its own, it requires the organisational input of capital, working in unison with labour to produce real wealth. The problem is how to determine what equity capital has in the outcome and what does labour have, and how should it be distributed, both wanting the greater share, and most benefit, the one with the greater power will receive the greater share in the end. Unless there is a Utopian state created, where share is no longer a consideration then there will always be conflict between labour and capital as to the distribution of wealth produced.

Bonger 1405.

A stiff arm salute to you my son.
Don’t need much more than I already have: Sitting in my multi million dollar mansion overlooking the Pacific Ocean and scoffing at the poor people passing by is entertaining enough.
However, with the constant sound of the surf breaking a hundred yards away, I’m considering investing in Crypto-Ark; a Jewish subsidiary of Noah’s Ark trust fund. Now that the Israelis have captured Greta Thunberg for interrogation, I’ll hedge my bets against sea level rises into the future. I don’t trust Bibi to give us Gentiles enough warning of sudden sea level rises from Global Warming.
