Trump scammed by Iran and Pakistan : Comments

By David Singer, published 17/4/2026

Trump’s Hormuz ultimatum was impossible for Iran to meet, making renewed US action to reopen the strait all but inevitable.

"His 'references' don't have anything to do with his antisemitic rants, or the topics"
- David's own article in this instance is based on mistruths, Iran was never begging for negotiations, it's Trump that was requesting a ceasefire, Iran they laid out a 10 point plan which needed to be accepted before negotiations took place.

"A real beauty recently was his acceptance of a totally unknown person's 'translation' of a speech made in Hebrew."
- Grok gives an AI assessment, and if the translation was wrong there would likely be a community note.

"We used to have a madwoman on OLO similar to him, always putting up shonky 'references' knowing few, if any, people, look at them."
- You can't even add links to the content on discussions you start.

"It is pathetic when people people don't have opinions to express on an opinion site, but carry on with rubbish appearing elsewhere from other people as cranky as they are themselves - particularly when they are totally irrelevant."
- I always have my own opinion.
The links merely show there was a legitimate basic for my opinion, especially when people like yourself accuse of being antisemitic.
I don't care if you don't watch them.
You call them shonky, but you would, I know your type ttbn.
You'd make every excuse to disbelieve anything that didn't serve to reinforce your own existing biases.
You'd rather stay dumb in your entrenched positions, than learn anything.
And then you advertise your dumbness saying others know nothing.

You're the poster child of the 'useful idiot' ttbn.
But when a chunk of the country tunes into Sky News, then a 'nation of idiots' is par for the course.
Your side is no more or less idiotic than the side you complain about.

“The links merely show there was a legitimate basic …..” (I guess you meant basis, not basic)

The links were not legitimate. As I said, the people in them could not be identified as victims of Israelis. I watched them. You apparently did not even look at them: just grabbed a heading that suited your bigotry, and bunged it in.

In the meantime:

. Provide proof that “David's own article” is “based on mistruths".
. I do reference and acknowledge the source of posts that I start. I do not do so
when I'm just expressing my opinion. I don't need to. An opinion is an opinion, not
something that needs proving.
. If you always have your own opinion, why does that opinion need someone else's
as well? We all know that there are people who have the same opinions as you do.
. You don't care if I watch your little videos? Well, I'm going to keep watching
them. Opinions are one thing. Spreading the lies of others is another.
. You know my ‘type’? Going on your obvious lack of education and Googling, I
doubt that you have had any contact with my ‘type’.
. I don't have to make any excuse to disbelieve your twaddle or your second-hand
twaddle.
. You can think I am dumb if it makes you feel less dumb than you obviously are.

If you think that your opinions can't stand up on their own, referencing the same opinions from someone with the same opinions on social media will not make them any stronger.

Three videos proving nothing on the one post. It will be interesting to see what you come up with next.

David argues 'President Trump was scammed by Iran and Pakistan into beginning negotiations with Iran - when Iran knew it could not complete the immediate and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz.'

This implies that the U.S. did not want a ceasefire but Iran did, and that's not what happened.
Israel meanwhile has been sabotaging any U.S. peace negotiations.

Traffic on the Strait of Hormuz dropped immediately after U.S. and Israeli attack, but I'm not sure it was mined straight away.
The first I saw Iran mention that the strait had been mined was just a few days prior to the ceasefire, but I haven't looked at day by day ship traffic to see when ships first started avoiding the mined area.

In order to get a ceasefire the U.S. apparently had to agree to Iran's 10 point demands, one of which recognised Irans control over the strait.

Look between 21 minutes and 22 minutes on the video.

But anyone that knows anything knows the U.S. does not keep it's word.
They don't do diplomacy, they don't have a reverse gear.
When they say the objective is regime change, they mean it.
I wouldn't negotiate with them.

"You know my ‘type’?"
- That would be the type which believes everything Israel says, but disbelieves anything that show Israeli's in a bad light.
Like you would watch those videos of Palestinians killed, and immediately assume Hamas must've done it, because in your mind there's no way possible a Jewish person could ever do such a thing.
And that's how you approach every accusation leveled at the Israelis, with disbelief, or justification, that the world is just full of irrational anti-Semites, not that anything I say is actually valid on its own merits.

If the only link you can add is one that accompanies you opening post, relating to the topic of discussion then please, do that.

David stated "Trump's conditions to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for two weeks were made clear in his following remarks on Truth Social on 7 April"

Trumps rants don't mean anything.
He changes his opinions on an hourly basis, usually going back on what he says, and despite the bluster he doesn't hold any cards with the strait, Iran does.
He can huff and puff all he wants but it doesn't change the facts on the ground.

If you're going to watch my linked videos, try this one I watched half of it earlier.

I doubt Mr Trump decided on the war by himself.
I am sure his advisors genuinely believed that Iran was close to success with its nuclear ambition.
Just as they were sure Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
I think they messed up yet again.
So there was an ill-advised war.
And, as far as I can gather, it is being badly managed.
I do wish Mr Trump would stop bleating about how destructive he can be.
(you can see I am trying to be diplomatic with my words)
And Mr Netanyahu is no better.
I long ago realised that 'single-mindedness' in that part of the world is destructive.
And just as harmful as was Hitler's single-mindedness.
They are on a parallel.
And both are to be despised.
We can only look on, sometimes with horror, and hope that cooler minds will take control sooner rather than later.
