If "... Donald Trump and the hard young men who surround him ..." are the answer, the whole world is well and truly screwed.

FYI, the Arabic word most commonly associated with 'just war' is 'jihad'.
Catechism of the Catholic Church "Every citizen and government is flat-out obliged to avoid it." The Islamic Republic is obliged to follow the Catholic Churches dictates? I'm obliged to follow the Catholic churches dictates too? Well don't worry, I'm pretty sure they checked all the boxes off first, unlike America and Israel. Aries 54,
The idea is to read the article and supply YOUR opinion on it, not to make half-witted comments on the opinions of other posters who, unlike you, do have the intelligence and the willingness to do that. Posted by ttbn, Monday, 13 April 2026 1:44:07 PM

Hi ttbn
I have read the article and for the most part agree with it so see no need to comment further. However, your comment about those believing in God caught my eye. As a non-believer in some omnipresent invisible being who lives in the sky, I have never ever believed in the concept of 'justifiable violence' of any description. So I guess our views on that topic will never align. If those who do believe in god see "... Donald Trump and the hard young men who surround him ..." as answers to anything. I'm deeply concerned. Most of what the author wrote has no relevance to human life in the "21st century"
These 3 references describe the necessary conditions for human life in the "21st century". http://www.nottwoispeace.org/excerpt-723 http://www.dabase.org/12laws.htm http://www.dabase.org/p4formula.htm Unfortunately our benighted leaders are all charging in the opposite direction! Aries 54,
You can't find it in yourself to congratulate someone you agree with, but you are up for any opportunity to criticise someone who takes a different view. My opinion, and the opinions of others, are none of your business. I/we don't put up opinions for your approval or disapproval. Our ‘business’ is with the contributor. Your's is evidently picking arguments. I have no interest in what you believe or don't believe. You are not a contributor, you are, like me, just a poster with opinions that aren't worth arguing about because they don't change. They get expressed, and that's it. Your atheism is entirely your business, as is your non-acceptance of violence for any reason - although, the way things are heading, you are going to need others with different ideas to protect you and yours. You are right to be “deeply concerned”, but not by Donald Trump or the rough men who do violence to protect us so that we can sleep peacefully in our beds and still live the normal lives too many of us think they will always enjoy without having to defend them. "The “dignity of life” is an excuse used here to say no to war.
Tell that to Muslims, who love death." There's this Palestinian family, they live in Gaza. A man named Ibrahim Jeradeh. He took care of the Gaza War Cemetary for half a century, and his father took care of it before him. Now his sons Issam and Mohammed take care of the war cemetery. 3 Generations looking after these graves for over a century, where 263 Australians were laid to rest. Anyway... the people you defend went in there with a bulldozer... You talk of Christian morals, which ones? You imply that 'thou shalt no kill' one doesn't apply. The same ones where you claim to be a Christian but want all the Palestinians wiped out? Did you know that the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem has been under the guardianship of two Muslim families, the Joudeh and Nuseibeh families for centuries? Now, tell me about 'Iran's support for terror all over the world' Did you make that up, did you just hear it somewhere and repeat it like a broken record or do we just hate and label as terrorists anyone who stands up for Palestinians, because that's really all it seems to be. Those 'terrorists' certainly haven't done anything the Israelis haven't done, and probably done it first. You scream 'October 7!' - like that even means anything now... You claim intelligence but you fail to realise it's been going on since Day one. http://x.com/DaniMayakovski/status/2042807581182198073 >>Meanwhile, the Zionist soldiers who invaded Palestine in 1948: "I didn't take prisoners, even if they surrendered, I shot all the Arabs. I had a machine gun with 250 rounds and I fired at everyone until I ran out of bullets, I was a murderer."<< What's changed? - Nothing. Just a continuation of a remove by-any-means policy that's been going on since Israels founding. More people in both the U.S. and Australia support the Palestinians. Where is this democracy we all supposedly love? - Locking Aussies up for a foreign nation. Posted by Armchair Critic, Monday, 13 April 2026 6:53:14 PM

There is no justification for war. The notion of "pre-emptive war", claiming one must strike first before the bad guy has a chance to do so fails completely. The killing of civilians also cannot be justified as necessary, to get at the bad guys, this is what the Zionist have used in Gaza, and now Trump is using it to justify attacking Iran.

Dear ttbn
Just to remind you - as you like to make the distinction - this site is littered with commentators (like you and me) who have replied to the comments of other commentators (i.e. not contributors). You, your very self have engaged in this activity on many occasions, so please stop being the hypocrite when I make a comment about your comment. Posted by Aries54, Tuesday, 14 April 2026 9:36:45 AM

Forget about JESUS, the new Messiah is with us, its DONALD. The fool has even taken to posting himself as a Jesus type figure in appropriate white and red robs and all, coming from the heavenly clouds and healing the sick! The only sick(o) in the photo is Crazy Donald.
Where are all the devoted disciples of Crazy Donald hiding out these days? Posted by Paul1405, Tuesday, 14 April 2026 8:19:43 PM

The "pre-emptive" strike on Iran occurred only after Iran's 47 year ongoing war via its support for terror all over the world, by a religion that doesn't work on Christian morals, or any morals at all. It should have happened much earlier.
There are all sorts of good things in the Bible. ‘Loving your enemy’, and ‘turning the other cheek’ are not the good sorts; particularly when it comes to a religion determined to kill and subjugate as many Christians, and other non-Muslims to get what it wants: world domination.
Bible-bashing and naive academics won't save the West. That's a job for hard men with a normal sense of self-preservation.
The “dignity of life” is an excuse used here to say no to war. Tell that to Muslims, who love death.
Then there's the nonsense of sitting on our hands, and not reacting to “a scary story about what might happen”. How long has Yuri Koszarycz had his head in the sand!
Using Christianity at all as an excuse to do nothing is pointless. It is on the way out, along with the West itself. King Charles 111 would rather talk about Ramadan than give the traditional Easter Message. He even tried to have his title Defender Of The Faith (the Church of England) changed to Defender of (all) Faiths. Wiser heads than his put a stop to that nonsense. And the next plonker to the throne, is a personality-free nothing even more woke and useless than his daddy.
If you believe in God, thank him for Donald Trump and the hard young men who surround him. They are the West's only hope.
