As a comment to 'The Lone Ranger'. Perhaps I shouls state that although I heard plenty of stories about ' alleged sexual misconduct'with girls I was not present at the time and place. The information that I received is referred to as 'hearsay evidence' and is not 'expert evidence' or 'actual knowledge'. There is also the requirement of a formal complaint from the victim to be lodged and although I know that this presents problems for many girls (including more so aboriginal girls) this is the way that most unfortunately the justice system works by. It was not my job to get involved in 'aboriginal business. I was a guest with a permit to work in Arnhem land. In all the time that I worked in Arnhem land I Never went into areas of lands without aborginal guides. And I was never shown a 'sacred place' or a 'sacred dangerous place' but I was aware that such places must be close. As for Bob Collins, if the evidence does indicate and confirm the deceptive conduct of pedophilic behaviour then I am ashamed of the situation and sympathise with the alleged victims.

Quite understandably, the charge of sexually abused young girls,(24 Sept),Mangrove wrote of has now sofened to become, "alleged sexual misconduct with girls".He says he couldn't report these alleged crimes because his info was heresay, not actual knowledge, and in any case these abused children were required to make a formal complaint themselves. I think not! However there is no blame to be laid here. Under the permit system outsiders soon learned to keep their mouths shut or risk having their permit revoked. This system kept Australians ignorant of life in Aboriginal communities and allowed them to stagnate.
Removing it is the single most important step towards normalizing Aboriginal peoples lives. Outsiders will now be able to speak out, and insiders, including abused children and adults, will learn that there are people who will not only listen, but will also act on their behalf.

As I do not know the truth and I wish to know the truth about Bob Collins I will wait until the NT Coroner hands down his finding on the demise of Bob Collins.
