After three decades of climate summits and ever-larger crowds of well-funded delegates, Belém produced only platitudes, voluntary roadmaps, and a sacred silence around the very fuels it claims are cooking the planet.

After three decades of UN climate summits, population, GDP, consumption, emissions, and CO2 levels, keep on climbing, and humans cannot geo-engineer global temperatures.

While the UN emotes over rich nations making good for "climate loss and damage", the consequence is the African population bomb, with all the cruelty and suffering it entails.

Every few years there is a cultural war against something... the war against cancer, the war against drugs, the war to save the environment... and the government throws other peoples money into the battle fray, and fly by nights step in as comical heros and collect the money, knowing that the problem won't be solved. I once thought that academic researchers being the enlightened would be better than the scrambling dirty masses in the prison of Solzynitsyn's One Day In The Life Of Ivan Dennisovich. However academics have often proved me wrong. We need to stop the academics destroying our societies.
