For many dementia and aged-care patients, Australia’s end-of-life laws make escape impossible. When mercy becomes illegal, cruelty becomes policy.

Australia has never respected the aged, demented or not, as many other cultures do; so keeping them alive when they would rather be dead can only mean that the aged are useful for experimenting on by scientists always 10 years away from discovering wonder cures (gushingly advertised on the nightly news in the quest for more taxpayer subsidies); and money-grubbing corporations running chains of ‘nursing’ homes where old nuisances are put to die in misery, increasingly uncared for, as government departments dealing with complaints indicate.

Then there are the creeps on Google telling you how you can test yourself for dementia; the 7 things to look for to see if you are getting it: foods to eat to prevent it - and all that bollocks.

And, of course, there is the big-earner, ‘home care’, full of people who can’t speak English.

Anyone, any group, wanting to stop people from escaping the misery and horrors of old age via VAD are vicious arseholes, akin to concentration camp commandants; particularly the religious types who think it’s OK to suffer - until it’s their turn.

The inability to control your own life and death in this country is just another example of its authoritarian, undemocratic bastardry.

The laws around end of life care are changing albeit extremely slowly.

I hope that I can self check out when I want/need to leave.

Funny how ttbn states: "Australia has never respected the aged, demented or not, as many other cultures do..." My guess is that the non English speaking home care givers he talks about come from those very cultures.

There's no pleasing some people.

The non-English speakers respect their own elders, not ours. Naive white Australians have this quaint idea that other cultures and colours look up to us. They don't even like us, and think that we are idiots for letting them come here to enjoy all the things that we have created for the bludgers.

Just watched a video of a female Malaysian student taking up space in one or our universities screaming that one thing she has learned is that Australians are racists. She wouldn't be able to say anything political in the dunghill she came from, and hopefully will soon be returning to.

People like WTF need to get out of their singlets and underpants in front of their computers and join the real world.

Catholics & Protestants changed to the new religion $.
Merit started to mean to do the work for hangers-on & no-one knows the meaning of education which has become an export of our smart & import of worse than the homegrown.
the only winner are the useless Woke - for time being that is !
The imported useless will self-destruct as soon as they get enough authority.

And still showing demonstrable lack of judgment, this time recruiting Barnaby Joyce.

She has proved again to be a bad judge of character!

Judging people by their looks rather than their merit is what has brought Australia to the brink of collapse.
10 Barneys couldn't do as much harm as the present federal administration.
Then there's the question of sanity among the average voters.

This article demonstrates the chasm between the "religious-minded" and the religious.

Any “port in a storm” seems to be One Nation logic.

One Nation is a private Party: It will never work as a stand alone. However, IF EVER the LNP legitimise themselves as truly representative of the people , it may become attractive to One Nation as a coalition to join, if that’s even legal, I don’t pretend to know.
It’s the only way (with evidence) I can see in the future, to roll the ALP.

Religious V Religious minded; the difference is?

Dear Dan,

«Religious V Religious minded; the difference is?»

I thought this was obvious:

There are those who have IDEAS ABOUT religion and thus consider themselves religious - and then there are those who are actually religious whether they even think about it or not, whether or not they have the terminology, whose lives are constantly dedicated in word, thought and deed to serve God, pray and otherwise draw nearer to God.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder then!

So who was more religious, supposing the difference for sake of the question, Moses or Aaron?

Dear Dan,

God sees to the heart, while your humble servant is not even a prophet, nor even met these two brothers in person.
