Trump’s misreading of China’s resolve : Comments

By Murray Hunter, published 24/4/2025

Trump’s imposition of tariffs upon China is seen as an assault with insult.

Trump laying on heavy tariffs one day then changing his mind with lower tariffs the next day proves Trump's tariff policies are poorly thought out.

Also disagreements on tariffs between Musk (who has large Tesla factories in China) and some tariff extremists working for Trump, are weakening and damaging the US economy.

China appears the good guy lumped in with other tariff victims of US tariff aggression.

All bad in hard and soft power terms for the US.

WTF?

Back on 30 January, in yet another article on OLO, Murray Hunter would have us believe that: "Trump has the knack of turning disasters and threats into opportunities."

Now, just three months later, Murray Hunter is now saying: "The hard-handed approach of Trump, appears to have not considered the consequences."

It now appears that what the author should have said back in January is that: "Trump has the knack of turning opportunities into disasters and threats".

Just a bit of news, a Chinese delegation of 30 members was observed to
enter the US Trade Dept in Washington at 7am in the morning.
They appeared to be very shy when approached.
Something in the wind ?

WTF?
Bazza claims he has some "news", from where I wonder?

Here is the type of news I like:
More Australian sheep meat will be sent to China, as the country looks for new opportunities amid its trade war with the United States.

Ten Australian sheep and goat abattoirs were granted access to the lucrative market for the first time over the weekend.

Abattoirs need to be individually approved by the Chinese government and the agreement process is prolonged and difficult.

The Australian Meat Industry Council (AMIC) said it was the biggest expansion in Australian sheep meat access to China in many years.

AMIC general manager of trade Sam Munsie said it had "been a long time coming" and was "extremely welcome news".

So China is certainly negotiating on trade.
