The alarming rise of antisemitism : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 4/3/2025

Anyone who denies that the brutal occupation of the West Bank and war in Gaza has not fueled the rise of antisemitism is willfully naïve.

Well I just want a world where we can all try to get along.
'Love thy neighbour' and stuff, 'peace and goodwill to all'.

A place where everyone can live with respect, decency and dignity, not conflict.
Not so much a place where some live in ivory towers and others live in tents.
Not so much a place where governments don't even care about their citizens.

I know it maybe sometimes seems like that's not what I'm about.
And that I sometimes push difficult issues a little too far.

Both, Arabs & Jews could start easing tensions by stopping to wear the things that identify them as being different to the rest of the World's people.
One wouldn't know if someone was Arab or Jewish if they didn't don those coasters & tea towels. They single themselves out & draw attention to themselves deliberately ! Stop doing that & confrontation will ease !

Before Hitler turned his eyes on the Jews, he set about exterminating those with mental defects, physical disabilities, homosexuals and Romani.

I have seen photographs of young teenagers (German) strung up with piano wire. Their crime? Listening to Jazz, which was considered degenerate music originating from the Black community.

Indy,
Perhaps if jews ceased considering themselves as
"the chosen people" life might become a tad easier for them.
Chosen by who or what, some mythological creature.......

The Israelites (Jews) being the chosen people is found in the Book of Deuteronomy 7:6.

I have never come across any Jew who was infatuated with the idea of being of the chosen people. But I have come across extremely devout Christians who identified Jews as being chosen.

Jesus and his followers were all Jews, as devout Christians will tell you.

I haven't known many antisemites - in fact very few - but those I have known all shared the same traits.

They were disfunctional, inadequate and of lesser intelligence with a huge chip on their shoulder. On mentioning this to an academic, he agreed. Apparently such people are often not successful in life and need to boulster their fragile egos by believing that there was a conspiracy against them ... (conspiracy theories loom) large)...and pinned it on Jews - they had never met one. Now this is not necessarily my viewpoint, but certainly was the assessment by this highly qualified person.

Antisemites are definitely members of the tin foil hat brigade.

Hitler was actually Austrian.

He fled to Munich, Germany, in May 1913 to avoid arrest for evading his military service obligation to Habsburg Austria.

The German in Mein Kampf is extremely poor, and while it is riddled with appalling racism, it is extremely banal. Not the work of an educated nor intelligent person.
