Sigh!
Yes Ateday, these actions are nasty, utterly disgusting and speak for themselves, but it is not Israel which does it, it is the Israeli government that is imposed over the Israeli people, same as how Putin's regime is imposed over the Russian people. Here is a map of what the Nazi ministers within Israel's government plan to do with the tiny Gaza strip: http://ynet-pic1.yit.co.il/cdn-cgi/image/f=auto,w=740,q=75/picserver6/crop_images/2024/12/19/H12nllfHkx/H12nllfHkx_0_136_1280_721_0_x-large.jpg On the top of the map is a smaller map showing their desired borders of Israel, to include nearly all of Sinai, Jordan and Syria and most of Iraq. Their agenda also includes the rebuilding of Jerusalem's temple, where animal sacrifices are to be recommenced, and the imposition of Jewish Halachic law, to include flogging, torture and executions for breaches of Jewish commandments (sounds familiar?). Netanyahu, BTW, is not fond of the latter since he doesn't personally observe Halachic law, yet in order to survive he has no choice but give in to these lunatics and include them in his government. Its the same old story:
Turkey protects and nurtures a terrorist anti-governemtn group within Syria for years.... no problem. Hezbullah pours troops and supplies into Syria for years to prop-up the government.....no problem. Iran pours supplies into Syria for years... no problem. Russia pours troops, supplies and naval forces into Syria for years....no problem. Said terrorist group breaks out and attacks the government...no problem Russia attacks terrorist group and surrounding civilians killing at least 1000...no problem. Turkey takes opportunity during the mayhem to attack Kurds killing an unknown number but at least 1000...no problem. Iraq sends troops into Syria to try to prop-up government...no problem. Hezbullah fight to defend government then try to steal government equipment back to Lebanon...no problem. Jordan moves troops to the Syrian border to counter any attacks...no problem. THEN Israel moves to strengthen their Syria border and stop armaments falling into enemy hands... oh my God. How dare the Jews do this. Its totally destabilising the region. It just never ends. Syria: “When we build the Islamic caliphate, Christians will pay Jizya under Islamic Sharia.” - Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, HTS Islamist leader and new ruler of Syria
Explain to me again how this new wonderous Syrian democracy will work. Posted by mhaze, Friday, 20 December 2024 4:58:58 PM

Dear Mhaze,
«oh my God. How dare the Jews do this. Its totally destabilising the region.» When a toddler throws down and breaks a plate, ....no problem. When an adult throws down and breaks a plate, ....yes, it is a problem. It goes that in 1937 at the Peel commission, Lord Peel spoke up, saying: "Mr. Ben Gurion, the Arab people have a Kushan entitling them to this land (a Kushan was an Ottoman land deed). Do you have a document saying that Palestine belongs to you?". At that point, Ben Gurion became aware of the Hebrew Bible in his hand that he swore upon whilst taking the oath to be witness to the commission, and he held it up triumphantly exclaiming "Here is your Kushan, here is your document. It is the world's most highly respected book, and I believe that you British regard it with much respect too. We must have this land." Now I personally do not believe in the authenticity of that "document" (nor I believe did Ben Gurion), but it is on that basis that 10 years later the world accepted Israel's creation. So let's have a look at that document: "This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In those days ten people from all languages and nations will take firm hold of one Jew by the hem of his robe and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’”" [Zechariah 8:23] So having accepted Israel on the basis of this document, Israel was proposed to be not a military, not even economic, but a moral and spiritual super-power, an example to the whole world, a "light unto the nations": that surely raises the bar of what is expected of it! This is not to say that all other interferences with Syria's sovereignty were OK, nor the Jizya tax, just that the others have a relatively lesser responsibility since they were never meant or claimed to be an example to others. It is good and essential for Israel itself to be held to higher moral standards. Posted by Yuyutsu, Friday, 20 December 2024 6:43:32 PM

"It is good and essential for Israel itself to be held to higher moral standards."
Why? A higher standard than Russia? A higher standard than Turkey? What other states are you going to give a pass to? This is exactly what I said. The author of the article and its seems quite a few others have a double standard. One for Israel, one for the rest of the planet - or at least that part of the planet they are touting for. The primary function of the government of Israel is to protect the people of Israel. Posted by mhaze, Friday, 20 December 2024 8:18:35 PM

"Since October 7 last year, Israel's response to the attacks by Hamas has been one of sledgehammers and chisels, a conscious attempt to broaden the conflict beyond its Palestinian confines to targeting the Lebanese militia group Hezbollah and its sponsor, Iran."

Interesting information coming out of M-E, apparently mainly from Turkey....
As we now know, Israel has taken out the overwhelming majority of the Syrian army's equipment (up to 85%) in raids over the last week. They seemed to have really good intelligence as to the location of all the Syrian depots and munitions dumps. Originally it was assumed this was due to Mossad expertise and that remains the case. But the story goes that a lot of the really good intelligence was supplied to Israel by Assad himself in return for Israel NOT shooting his plane out of the sky as he skedaddled to Moscow. There is not much point in beating ourselves about the head on who is
right and who is wrong; it is all a matter of perspective. Israel has the best score as they were there first and lived there for a number of thousands of years. No one else comes close to that. Just because the Arabs arrived in the 7th century and conquered the country causes them to say that land conquered by Moslems remains Islamic land forever no matter who turns up later. The British could apply that rule. It sums up the whole situation, the moslems are driven by the Koran to fight this war forever. The only way to stop this fighting is to convince them to write a New Testament of the Koran, but that is punishable by death. So is the solution for the rest of us is to kill all moslems or just accept perpetual war ? Posted by Bezza, Saturday, 21 December 2024 3:06:55 PM

Dear Mhaze,
«Why? A higher standard than Russia? A higher standard than Turkey? What other states are you going to give a pass to?» - Those I do not love or care for! And as I have no particular reason to love or care for Russia or Turkey, I assign them a LOWER standard, LOWER expectations! «The author of the article and its seems quite a few others have a double standard. One for Israel, one for the rest of the planet» Well and good - then he too must love and care for Israel! I do not believe in the verse below literally, it does not suit our times in its literal form, but its spirit still does: "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." [Proverbs 13:24] (Today I would rather rephrase, "He that does not limit his son's screen-time hateth his son...") «The primary function of the government of Israel is to protect the people of Israel.» My personal thesis is that protecting others is inherently mission-impossible, a mirage, something no government can ever achieve ... but that is for another day: let us assume for the moment that your statement is correct - then how had this government of Israel fare in that role on the fateful night between 6th-7th of October 2023? I have reason to believe that this was not only a colossal failure, negligent or reckless, but a deliberate planned attack by Netanyahu on the people of Israel whom he was supposed to protect, covertly contracting Sinwar to do that dirty job for him. ...Unconfirmed but intriguing... Dear Bezza,
«Israel has the best score as they were there first and lived there for a number of thousands of years. No one else comes close to that.» Anyone can write a book saying "I have been here first, bla, bla, bla." Modern archaeological science refutes these Biblical claims one by one. The name "Israel" comes from a different kingdom to the north of Judea, a rival and much bigger kingdom that was never related to Judea. Ancient Israel was completely annihilated by the Assyrians and any claims of supposed union and common ancestry between the two countries were fabricated long after any "Israeli" was left to deny them. Modern Israel, again, is a different new country, built largely by ethnically and culturally different people. I still support modern Israel and consider it legitimate - but not for the fabricated reasons you stated. «Just because the Arabs arrived in the 7th century and conquered the country causes them to say that land conquered by Moslems remains Islamic land forever no matter who turns up later.» Islamic or otherwise, based on modern science, the majority of the "Arab" population of Israel (those who idiotically now call themselves "Palestinian") is believed to be the descendants of the original Judeans, thus part and parcel of the farming people who continuously lived on that land and never left it. «So is the solution for the rest of us is to kill all moslems or just accept perpetual war ?» There are estimated 15.7 million Jews worldwide and 242 million Muslims in Indonesia alone. Relations between Indonesia and Israel have recently been improving. Would you support killing these 242 million innocent people who live close to Australia, including women and children? Just because some other idiot fabricated some other nonsense in some other book? Posted by Yuyutsu, Saturday, 21 December 2024 11:04:45 PM

"There is not much point in beating ourselves about the head on who isright and who is wrong; it is all a matter of perspective".
The only sensible comment amid a lot of twaddle from people who know nothing, and can do nothing about another lot of lunatics in the Middle East. Some people overthrow a dictator, so they must be good. Pig's arse. They will turn out to be ten times worse than the creep they got rid of. Think 'Arab spring' and all the othe shite that was going to make the Middle East a Paradise. This just makes things worse for Israel. Posted by ttbn, Sunday, 22 December 2024 3:34:01 AM

Preaching about Israel to 4 people on the internet is useless; particularly when you don't live there.

You people are fighting amongst yourselves and missing the entire point.
Russia's actions were a response to US actions. And Israels actions were facilitated by US actions. The outcome in Syria is a result of U.S. policy and wars for Israel. US actions are facilitated by the Israel lobby and U.S. neoconservatives. If you want to lay blame, start by getting real. The reason more than anything, is that people like yourselves (Yuyutsu excluded) refuse to see the bigger picture and blindly allow these actions to continue. If you want to know whose at fault, go look in the mirror. Posted by Armchair Critic, Tuesday, 24 December 2024 9:53:47 AM
